Quick Cuts V2

8 ай бұрын

So I was driving around searching for a good place to clean up when I saw this property! I knocked on the door and the young tenant in a share house couldn't believe his luck when I offered to do a yard renovation for free. He was actually shocked that his house was going to be on social media, as he watches some clean ups on Tiktok and Facebook. I said that this was his lucky day and that he should subscribe to my channel on KZfaq, and so should you 🙂. This is part 1 of 2.
Part 2: To be completed.

FAQ's:
Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
Q: What happened to Nick?
A: Nick was offered a full-time position at his other job as a Political admin.
Q: What happened to Brent?
A: Brent quit at the start of August 2022.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷‍♂️
Q: Why are you cutting so close to your employee?
A: I'm not cutting too close to my workers, they are standing too close to where I am working! All of my workers have been told numerous times about standing too close to the tools and about the hazards involved!
Q: Why do your workers do all the lifting and carrying?
A: Basically, they are employed to carry things and I pay them well, to do the job required.
Q: You work so well together, how do you do it?
A: That's the magic of editing. My workers are basically given instructions on what to do, I just edit it all out, so the videos look seamless!
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What happened to your workers?
A: Because the work is so hard and I expect high standards, most have quit over time. The only exception so far is Nick.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.

Wow!! I was really gobsmacked by this one, George. You did an amazing job!! This looked like it was once a very gracious house with a lovely yard in its day. I'd do almost anything to give those old roses and other shrubs a good water and some nice compost. Thank you for giving this place such a beautiful makeover and restoring its dignity. It looks incredible now!

The poor plants and shrubs looked like they were choking! Hurrah for George for freeing them. It does seem odd that such a big property has no dedicated landscape management.

As a single mum raising 2 kids and working full time, yard care was sometimes hit and miss. I had a large block on a corner, many shrubs, trees and plants ( curtesy of previous owners). It would take me 2 weekends to do properly, but looked great when done. I eventually hired someone to remove many of the trees, especially on the footpath, it makes mowing so much easier. Before I retired I moved to a much smaller place and when looking I told the realtor not to even bother showing me anything on a corner or with too much gardening 😂😂. At 51, I did all the landscaping myself thinking about the future me, easy borders and garden. I did get a few shrubs for a privacy out front but manageable. Minimal maintenance and at 74 I’m still able to do most of the maintenance. I see George rescuing many yards for seniors who are no longer able to keep up with the hard work. I’m so glad I moved when I did and my life isn’t tied to the garden. Anyone who is thinking about moving for this reason do it, don’t wait till your body is broken from hard gardening. I still grow vegetables, flowers and fruit, all in raised bed or large pots. Miniature fruit trees do well in pots. There is a lot of living to do after retirement ❤

Not so easy if it rains n rains n grass doesn’t dry out enough (In Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿). Also we never know what medical conditions the residents have. Not everyone is fit. I’m 73 n so far manage despite having had bowel cancer surgery two years ago but I get depressed if grass needs cut so out I go. Bought myself a scarifier n aerator. If only it’d stop raining 🤭

Excellent transformation. I love your attention to detail. Also, I love that you trim under the shrubs, bushes, and plants. It leaves such a clean appearance. I have come to appreciate the beauty of them because of you. Thank you for naming everything for us. Just a note to let you know that the name George has been a major factor in our lives for the last 30 years. No one in our family has the name but goodwill and rescues have all be associated with the name George. We have been in situations that we couldn't see a way out and then someone named George would step in to help. This has happened time and time again. So, I hope it's okay to consider you a friend. God bless you.

It is very nice and refreshing to come across a lawn-mowing guy who knows about plants, other than what is a mere "out of control" or "tidy" lawn length situation. This chappie actually knows plants and does not go for a "scorched earth" policy when tidying the garden. He is a true gardener -- not a mere "grass cutter". Too many of these lawn guys seen on video act like blood-thirsty rambos and merely raze the flower beds and gardens destroying all the flowers and desirable plants that are there.

What an amazing transformation. I couldn’t help thinking what a blessing this would be to have you knock on my door. We rent as well and unfortunately most properties are in this condition when we move in. I have degenerative disc disease and rheumatoid arthritis so it is very hard to do yard work. However, I do a little everyday and within one growing season I have a yard to be proud of. It is possible! I can’t speak for anyone else as I am not privy to their own story but it sure feels good to have a beautiful yard to relax in and play with our dogs. Gardening is good for the soul☺️✌️✨

Hi George mum and I love your channel, whenever we watch it, mum gets the motivation to go outside and mow, she is in her 80s. this is by far the best series we have seen on KZfaq. well done.

Just 14 hours of time well spent made this house look respectable and loved. I like that watching social media from other countries teaches me that plants I once thought as local to me (geraniums, nasturtiums, and fusias) are in fact bushes or weeds in your area. Thanks George for the education.

You did an outstanding job. Love how you say what kind of plants there are. Sometimes folks get overwhelmed and cannot see how to get out of the situation. Hoping your reset helps them.

I always look forward to your yard transformations. Always such an excellent job. You never cut corners & always go the extra mile like mending a fence or repairing a garden hose. Thank you for the work you do & for sharing it on this channel

I've watched 10 or more videos from 10 or more people providing yard service and your work is by far the best. Excellent work ethics.

That is such a beautiful house. With the yard now done to perfection, it might be the nicest on the block. I think that’s the first time I’ve seen your face. Very handsome!

I love how you decongest the landscape and lift and separate the individual plantings to show them off.

I do love that you take proper care of the established plants and say what they are in your titles. So refreshing to watch instead of some of the US lawn care channels who prefer to hack everything back to nothing. Sign of a professional, a garden is so much more than grass. Lovely to see!
