Winter steelhead fishing out of drift boats can be a ton of fun. It's a great way to get down the river and chase these beautiful fish, but it takes some learning and practice to perfect rowing a big piece of metal down the river. In today's episode, we have Cameron and a buddy fishing down a beautiful pnw river in a new drift boat. Cameron is trying to teach Ben some pointers of rowing the river, in his new boat and also try to catch some fish! Ben does a good job on the sticks, but not all the float was peachy... the side of Ben's boat meets some rocks... Watch the whole episode to see what happens.

That is the river I learned on, lots of little tricky spots but overall a good river to learn on. Have had my drift boat since 1990, and put time on just about every boatable river in western Washington. Great eps guys

@@rushintofishin81 Early summer is your best bet for summer, early June. I start fishing winter late Dec. River can be really good, but gets crowded on weekends. When it is crowded fish the pocket water that you would fish for trout, especially in the summer.

@@rushintofishin81 dude the winter run here is pretty fire I’ve seen someone catch the last 4 times I’ve been. I caught I 8lb dime bright wild hen on the cowlitz yesterday.

I was going to suggest a different topic as this. Could maybe could do a episode on kayak/canoe setups and techniques how to pilot and fish solo. Cant wait till the next one comes out every time..

Nice job , don’t be fooled rowing is not for everyone. But once you get in the groove it’s lots of fun the faster the water the quicker things happen. You are constantly looking ahead for your line and at the same time trying to keep the boat in position for the fishermen . I’m at a point I find it more challenging to row then fish and my fishing friends really like that :-) But the reason I go out is to fish nothing better then feeling that grab . Thanks for sharing

Went sideways in a fast skinny channel on the Big Horn in MT once. Smacked so hard cracked a rib....was lucky not to flip it. It's good to know every major obstacle in the river before you go. Well played - voting for more drift boat videos 👍
