Every now and then a performance comes along and captivates every person who experiences it. This is one of them.

About his being sick, the thing is, David has an incredibly resonant voice anyway and being sick just made it a little more resonant. 2 clues to his being sick: 1 - he sat throughout the performance, 2 - he had to take a few more breaths than normal. As far as the orchestra goes, his label hired them to do this performance on Conan. When they do this on tour, they hire a local cellist and violinist. Yes, they still tour, and yes, this is a song that is now done every tour date. (Along with Down with the Sickness) - talk about contrast in songs! They'll be touring this year in support of their latest new album - Divisive. Love to hear you react to "Don't Tell Me" from that album - it features Ann Wilson from Heart.

Fun fact I just learned and have been watching reactions to this song for years. He had just got out of the hospital and had to sit down to sing. He comes from a long line of Jewish cantors. After years of doing this he did get some professional training to sustain his vocals. The cool thing is he has 0 tattoos. Out of respect for his GPA and their religion, he only has piercings that can be removed when going home. Mad respect to the man himself. A suggestion of another mind blower is Chris Stapleton- Tennessee Whiskey, the live at Austin is amazing and his wife does the back ups.

Paul Simon, who wrote this song said it was the best rendition he has ever heard. This rendition really gets the essayed across of people not speaking out about what's happening around them.

A masterful rendition of a masterpiece

Make no mistake.... the instrumentals and percussion were solid and beautifully staged. However, this piece is about David's insanely shockingly beautiful vocals and his ability to take this song to a whole other level. His posture was for breathing and singing as he was trained. His eyes are the biggest giveaway that he is sick..... they appear dull/glossy.... not clear and bright. Nice reaction!

If you saw him healthy, you would easily know he is ill during this performance. Just the look on his face, his eyes, you can tell he's sick. As others have said, he was sitting while performing as you can see, which he would not have done if he were healthy. This is hauntingly beautiful, an epic masterpiece. One of the top live performances in music history...period! Peace......

Love David live. One of the greatest performances ever. He had to stay seated because he was really ill here but what a voice. I read somewhere that when he saw the playback, he cried because he did so well.❤️❤️❤️ "Down With the Sickness" will show you his energy.."Memories " is great also..There are so many sides to this band..🧡

What amazed me was how long he held the last (Sounnnnnnnnnd) of silence for 5.22 seconds compared to the studio version he held it for 4.1 seconds. That's such and important part of the song and a great example of how good he is to hold that word out there.

I thought he was going to cry when that voice crack momentarily happened.. It was so effective that I saw it as he was emotionally stressed by what he saw in his vision. He wanted us to know.

The first song most people heard from them was Down With the Sickness off their first album in 2000. Yes, they still perform. They’re just finishing up a tour I believe, and they just released a new album in November. I would recommend Stupify off their first album and their cover of If I Ever Lose My Faith In You 🖤

By comments from several people who were in the audience, they said that the applause and standing ovation lasted about 10 minutes. This performance got a Grammy nomination and over 100 million views for the Conan Show. There are over 800 million views period. "The Good, The Bad And The Ugly" theme by the Danish National Orchestra Symphony will blow your mind.

Disturbed is an incredible group, usually under "Heavy Metal" you could try listening to Down with the sickness, The Light , which is my current favorite, the lyrics of their songs are so deep and these particularly resonate with me. Hold on to the memories is also really beautiful.

David was not only sick, he just got out of the hospital the day before.

Yes everything is great in this--but David's voice is what makes this an all-time classic.

Unlike everyone that always hypes up Pearl Jam’s black unplugged over the Studio version. I think this is an example where imo the live version is better in basically every way.

This was not their usual sound, ha, one of their biggest hits from earlier days is called Down with the Sickness and the extended version has some very explicit (and shocking to some) lyrics. They had more of a metal sound though not all their stuff is as crazy as Down with the Sickness, ha.

Listen to Uninvited Guest, Hold on to Memories, The Light, Darkness. You'll be blown away!

To me his voice sounds just the slightest bit nasally, but the control and the orchestra just made this incredible!!!!

They’re still out there and I’m seeing them live august 3rd. They’re a heavy metal band and I think that genre doesn’t really get much traction.
