The fact that Hans Zimmer only has 2 Oscars is absolutely criminal

There are 3 times in life where it's OK for a man to cry: 1. The death of a loved one 2: Stubbing a toe really hard on furniture. 3. The end of Gladiator.

"He was a soldier of Rome. Honor him." Gets me every time.

For whatever reason, I always tear up when Gracchus says, “Who will help me carry him?” Every f’ing time.

"Now we are free. I will see you again. But not yet. Not yet..." It's all about the ending for me. The action is awesome, but the ending is by far my favorite part of this movie.

"Go to them..." It's such a simple sentence, but it breaks me every time.

I think in the history of cinema, there has never been a more minor role have greater impact than the actress who plays Maximus’ wife. You see her face twice in the entire film but this after life scene being reunited is so powerful.

I've seen this movie about 20 times, and it never fails that I'm bawling my eyes out by the ending. The score is absolutely out of this world.

Djimon Hounsou is such a great actor too. Decades of portraying awesome secondary characters in movies. Deserves to be the main lead in one.

A man had his vengeance delivered. A General fought for his country and saved it one last time. A father finally reunited with his family.

Maximus was probably at less than 50% of his ability because of his wound, and he still won. That’s the difference in a warrior forged in war vs a warrior forged in training, excellent writing!

I watched this in the Theater. When it first came out. I Lost it, I cried at the end. If you don't cry watching this movie. You have no soul. I was surrounded by men, crying their eyes out.

I'm old enough to have seen Gladiator in the theater the night it premiered. And it says something about the gripping and fully engrossing battle finale between Maximus and Commodus that the people I was seated next to almost a quarter century ago experienced the same emotional resonance to it as those in this video. Thank you for sharing some of my favorite reactors. Commodus is probably the most despicable villain in cinematic history. His death was enormously satisfying. But the role was played to perfection by Joaquin Phoenix. And this movie was about as close to flawless as it gets.

I saw this in a theater. When it was over and the end credit music played, I could not move. I sat there, wanting to do something bold and wonderful and helpful to everyone on Earth. I looked into the middle darkness and saw what I truly was. Incapable. It broke my heart a little.

I was fortunate enough to get tickets to the IMAX in Chicago, and me, my brother and 2 of our friends watched this on opening weekend, and even better... We never left the theater! We hid in the restroom while they cleaned, then walked right back in and watched it again! We loved it! And of course, movies are always better when you get to watch it on opening weekend with a packed house!!! It is still one of my favorite movies going experiences of my life!

There is a reason this won so many Academy Awards and golden globes in 2001. Went and saw this in the theater in High School in 2000 and people literally jumped and cheered when he kills Commodus. Fantastic movie. Phoenix deserves accolades for his role as well. Great movie.

When I first watched this movie something like 10 years ago, it was one of the few times a movie has made me cry(the other was titanic) Even now, like the 100th time I have watched this final sequence, it still gets me teary, so seeing almost all of the reactors crying was super relatable.

Soldiers, slaves, senators, and sons all carried a gladiator out while the stadium was completely quite. The music by Hans Zimmer fits the movie, and scene, perfectly. This is cinema!

Beautiful movie, beautiful music, absolutely very well done and my 4th favourite movie of all time. Not a dry eye when Maximus died, and watching that part again for the umpteenth time, I still cry too. Saw this in the theater when it came out and at the end part there was complete silence in a theater of at least 80 ppl.

And one of the best moments to consider. Maximus is carried out like a state hero. Comodus, meanwhile, is left behind for the vultures. How fitting. And it’s great that you guys point it out. Because yeah, fuck him.

I am so happy to have seen this movie on the big screen when it was released. I remember seeing it with 2 friends and from the opening scene till the end we were just blown away. Walking out we just wanted to buy another ticket and watch it again.

I dated a girl years ago for a couple years. She loved this movie. It is her all time favorite movie. Watched atleast once a week. Sometimes we would lay in bed to sleep she turned this movie on. Everytime at the end she would cry. She even said sorry for crying. I always told her it's okay to cry to this. We watched it together probably hundreds of times. She can recite every line to this movie perfectly. Sometimes I would ask her to recite it. I still talk to her all these years later after we broke up. She still loves this movie. Still watched it atleast once a week.

The Princess loved Maximus More than anyone in life, save her son. Which is inferred might actually Maximus son. From their relationship in their youth. Releasing him to go home was the hardest thing she ever had to do. So great was Maximus' honor and sense of duty he waited for his Princess to release him before he died. Her speech before the Senator and the colosseum was EPIC considering her Pervert brother lay like a dog in the dirt. Maximus was carried from the colosseum like a hero, Commodus was left lying in the dirt like trash. As a fun fact, so good are the acoustics of the great colosseum, A person standing on the floor of it, speaking in a normal voice can be clearly heard by anyone in the galleries, even to upper most levels. Another fun fact, in 1923 an archeologist was sifting through the dirt in the colosseum searching for relics and found three figurines buried in the dirt, a Man, a woman and a male child. Cool they included that in the movie.

These male reactors are frickin brave to upload their emotional reactions for millions of people to see man. There are some movies I refuse to watch with others because I don't want anyone to see me even get watery eyed. One of those movies is 'Lion'. That movie is impossible not to cry to.
