Welcome to Movie Shortens. Santi is having a difficult time. He has not only been unemployed for months, but his wife, Maite, has recently filed for divorce. To top it all off, Santi suspects Maite is having an affair with her boss at the supermarket where she works, Mario, a handsome man with money who is attempting to seduce her. Santi, desperate and unsure of what to do, buys a lottery ticket, reassured that his poverty is the root of all his problems... And wins $30 million!

I'm a little surprised that so many in the comments here seem to be taking away that the moral of the story is that money matters. Money facilitates, but the reason he gives his wife half and decides to move away, after also having given his friends money in hopes that it changes their life for the better, only to see it created problems for them, is because he recognizes that life is not so simple that you can solve _every_ problem with a financial transaction.

@jw11432
@jw11432 Жыл бұрын
@@kennethjacobs6049 Well at least you didn't make any assumptions and look ignorant. Today? Yes, I'm employed and enjoying a total compensation that places me in the top 10%. However, up until 7 years ago, I was broke and technically considered to be living in poverty. I was fortunate to still have a place to be, at my moms place, but 95%+ of my meals consisted of rice and beans. I'm keenly aware of what it is to live from paycheck to paycheck, as well as how much even $50 can mean. What you don't understand, is that money is not the be-all-end-all. Think about it, what else do you think you'd want if money wasn't the one thing holding you back in life? The people we love and maintain relationships with, both platonic and romantic, quickly realign as a priority. When all your focus is on money, you take those relationships for granted as always being there. That was my only real point. It's a shame that you considered this a prime opportunity to virtue signal rather than to expand your perspective.

This is a horrible story. It's all superficial, nothing deep. You would think that for a character going through divorce, there would be some deep emotional trauma for him to overcome, but there's nothing in this movie. Just a guy winning the lottery, lying about it, and for some reason is concerned about becoming a better surfer than his ex's new bf 🤦🏾
