I am no expert, but having worked for over 20yrs with vulnerable adults - several of whom were on the spectrum - I recognise some of this students characteristics as very similar to many of my clients.... Whatever his situation, I am pleased that Charlie recognised that something was probably 'off' and treated him honestly but kindly.x

Did you hear about Oregon voting in school system that they are no longer going to test kids in Math, reading, and writing to pass high school because students of minorities can't pass the tests. Most likely, he's one who wants to be accepted by his professor and/or peers, so he says what he hopes will help him meet that goal. I felt rather sorry for him, since I could feel how uncertain he was about what he was saying.
