It's deeply saddening that Dominique Gaumont does not get the credit he deserves for this superb guitar solo. The ignorant Pitchfork reviewer at the time decides it must be Pete or Reggie or n'important pas - whoever, the point is Dominique deserves the praise, tormented genius that he was. No one else.

Lost for words, a soul-shattering piece to be counted among Miles Davis greatest and most genuine efforts. The very materialization of sheer sadness at irreparable loss. It's one of those great pieces that would never have a second version, the depth of this moment in music history is too much to fathom or measure anyhow. I enjoyed every second of this authentic piece of heartfelt art! Thank you!

HOLY SHIT. Why can’t jazz dudes ever drop the ego and play this kind of dark, rock tinged stuff anymore??? It would fly so well nowadays

I'd easily say that most of the art I've created over the past five years wouldn't be possible without 1970s Electric Miles Davis albums such as this. Get Up With It feels so modern, feels like a time capsule from the future, a realm we have yet to reach. It's a masterful achievement from a period where Miles was blasting out nothing but masterpieces. Thanks for sharing.

Miles' tribute to Duke Ellington. In some ways, you could call this a precursor to Brian Eno''s ambient music.

Get this album selected as Historically Significant by the Library of Congress... sooner or later, well it should be better late than never. This is the finest Electric Miles album I’ve heard! Right on 🙌

Every year, beloved artists leave the stage, great artists who leave a void, whose death shatter us. But when Duke Ellington died, a whole era ended. The world was still there, though, and in it... Miles Davis. This dirge is him coming to terms with saying goodbye not only to the Maestro but to some other denizens of this really, really beautiful world of ours. Bird, Bud, Pres, Lady Day, Fat Girl, Brownie, Freddie, Eric, Trane, Tatum, Wynton, Bechet, Bean, Ben, Django, Pops, they were no more. And Miles may have felt alone all of a sudden. He was

This is the greatest track Miles recorded in the 70s, and arguably the last great piece of work he ever made. It's not just a tribute to Duke Ellington, it's a meditation on mortality and the passing of time. Davis was reflecting on the end of his own creative period. Very evocative piece of music that hasn't lost any of its power.

Every year or so I revisit Miles' entire 1965-75 era (check my mix). But it's always at this song where I feel he finally found the sound he was searching for. The sadness, the isolation, the feel of Impending doom... it's all contained within this track. Epic beyond belief and the precursor to the unreal Japanese live album twin detonations of Agharta and Pangea.

The best way to understand more fully and appreciate Miles is to go back to the beginning and even before. I love every band Miles played with, from Charlie Parker and on. In my opinion he is the greatest musical mind from 1900s

A beautifully distorted masterpiece of a perceived future from a 70s perspective. It's a dimension we will never reach but it's worth the effort.
