The kickstarter for sending your DNA to the future... that lady surely isn't a psychopath with how she presents the kickstarter... and surely your DNA isn't just going to be sitting in a red ball for years before you've noticed that you got scammed. Also the potato salad kickstarter was so great when that happened years ago, that guy got some amazing press just for a potato salad bit.

All I can say about Mighty No. 9 is Thank God Shovel Knight came out 2 years before to show kickstarters, especially ones based on retro games, can work It’s such a shock that a game made by someone who actually worked on the megaman series fell way below people inspired by it But now Yacht Club Games are some of the best developers in the indie field

So Robert Moran (the Unforgotten Quest guy) actually ended making a pretty fun dnd knock off game called URealms which went on for a few years. All of his older stuff is based on an old Webtoon that he made

You all joke about Mighty No 9 but that game is very important to me, because that game taught a college aged me the valuable lesson of buyers remorse and to not trust vague offers. I pledged TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS to that fucking game. Nothing can hurt me anymore, false promises can never reach this level. Mighty No 9 made me a stronger person, because the wound has since scabbed over and is just an ugly scar. Ironically the shit ton of backer extras I got for pledging that much gave me more joy than the game ever did (got some cool shirts, an artbook, and a plush of an enemy).
