I bought these for the same reason I bought a 5th gen Mustang, because they have great retro modern style. I had the sword and harness from my childhood 200X He-Man lying around, and this guy is able to wear the harness and hold the sword with no problems. The 200X sword looks a little big on him, but I think it's fine, especially since the sword handle is just the right size to fit in his hand.

It will be interesting to see how well this line does. It's nice seeing MOTU back in stores and I hope it catches on but I can't see kids being interested. Not without a movie or even cartoon. Adult collectors have their vintage collection for nostalgia and classics for modern articulation and detailing not to mention inclusiveness of characters from all corners of the franchise. This line being a strange middle ground doesn't really offer anything new.
@AmbientShades4 жыл бұрын
@unclassified Are you referring to the classics line or the 200x line? Personally I like the 200x line a lot and loved the story progression of the series but apparently a lot of folks didnt like the character redesigns. I'm working on building up my collection of them via ebay. Still have to build my classics line too. Not too impressed with this latest edition but will still collect them in hopes that it develops further.
@Rocket13774 жыл бұрын
MOTU didn't need a cartoon to be successful in 1982, it was a huge success right from the beginning. I didn't even like the 1983 cartoon that much as a kid. The minicomics that came with the toys told me everything I needed to know, as they explained the basic premise and who the characters were. We then used our imagination to create our own adventures. Today's kids are no different.
@AmbientShades4 жыл бұрын
@@Rocket1377 Not sure I fully agree with that. I was one of those kids that discovered MOTU prior to the cartoon but times were different then. There weren't many toys like it at the time. Video games were still in their infancy and the internet didn't exist. Toy sales across the board today are nothing like they were in the 80s when there was little else to compete with. I haven't looked into it much but I can't think of a current successful character-centric toy line today that isn't based on a popular tv show, game or book. Will this MOTU revamp be enough to distract your 8 year old from Fortnite to the satisfaction of Mattel's profits, or will it wind up being a short-lived nostalgia piece? Granted Fortnite is not really a franchise targeted at 8 year olds - or is it? It does have its own action figure line at Walmart that this MOTU line will be competing with. I think there needs to be something more significant going on with it to catch kids interests. Also don't forget the major time difference. Kids that loved original MOTU are grandparents today. Let that sink in.
@rodster6campingprepper4 жыл бұрын
@@Rocket1377 The cartoon was a huge part of the success of the toyline. Todays kids are pretty different, that's why toy sales are down. Especially of action figures.
@AmbientShades4 жыл бұрын
@unclassified I agree the Classics line is the best designed. But they put more effort into that I suspect because it was targeted at adult collectors. I'd almost forgotten the commemorative re-releases they did just prior (or maybe even concurrent to) the 200x line. I don't recall there being that many in that line tho, just the 8 or so core figures. But then there's the club grayskull line, which kind of followed the classics line and seems a bit less detailed (not sure if its actually considered part of the classics), then the super7 retro line. So this would technically be the 7th or possibly 8th(?) iteration.

I get my one today from amazon. I let him stay in the package because I have the original one from the 80ies.

Liked and subbed. And honestly I am sold. I am grabbing this wave up forsure. Mattel has surprised me yet again. I mean seriously, I am a huge Marvel Legends mark but this year was nothing but duds. 6 maybe 7 figures out of the entire 2020 line lol then Mattel does this. I hope they start doing rereleases of Mossman and that big freakin dragon lol

Ok. So technically, this is a new line, right? So, pixel dan, I have a favour that I want to ask of you. Please bring back your old MOTU intros! Because they're simply awesome!

Just got him, Skeletor and Battle Cat yesterday and they are great. Worth the wait after seeing the two pack from last year, and to top it all off, watching the review on this channel just feels right lol

Why aren't these available for purchase on Walmart.com?

No idea. He-Man and Skeletor randomly showed up and sold out instantly, before people really even knew they were there. Hoping the presence is bigger this Fall.

I really think saying that the removable parts are an "action feature" is a stretch. Marvel legends don't have "action figures" because you can swap out their heads and such. I think it's more likely that it's designed that way for easier swapping of parts by Mattel
