Have a similar story , was depressed about 4-5 years ago and all I had was video games, played with these group of guys when I was at my lowest in life. Really helped me through some tough time , when I finally got my life back together I flew out to see them in Oregon had the time of my life , I fly up there every year now. So thankful for their friendship those group of guys did more for me than they’ll ever know

Your story is just like my BFs! He has been struggling with PTSD and depression for many years. Video games was his salvation as well. He met his now best friend while playing GTA V 8 years ago. They text everyday, live video chat, they even send eachother BDay and Xmas gifts every year. They have yet to meet in person... we live on opposite end of the US... but I am saving money so I can surprise them and we can take a trip to the East coast and they can finally meet in person. Almost have enough for the trip!

I had the privledge of this not long ago. Met the kid when he was 13 and got to be there to help talk him into the military to escape some bad family problems. He joined at 18 not long ago and i got to meet him the first time in person for his basic grad. It was surreal!! And im super proud of him

Man that makes me sad, i met a lot of older dudes and kids my age alike and its sad that i just never got their number or anything, we just stopped gaming after a while. Knew people from different parts of the US and sometimes the world, online gaming growing up was such a unique experience, now im too shy, and most people don't even talk with mics so I cant make as many friends as i did back then. Plus you got the new CoD games that switch who you play with after every single game so its not even possible to build relationships like you used to be able to. I remember those cod games where you could play with the same 10 people for 3 hours aslong as you didnt leave.

I win: Bragging rights They Win: A Hosted sleepover food outing (Pizza, Burgers or whatever) or a theme park day (I'll run it by the parents)

I know a couple who played World of Warcraft for several years. Then silence and life went on for both of them. Years later they suddenly met again in the same game, different realm. They started talking again and decided to meet in person. As they lived in different countries visiting each other was becoming increasingly difficult and expensive so they decided to move together for good. They got married a couple of years later. Ten years now and counting ❤️

I met 2 of my closest friends playing siege since beta. We don't play it anymore but still keep in touch and play games. One guy got married to his girl who we also knew through gaming and he asked us too be two of his groomsmen. Even flew us put to Cali cause they liked us all the years we played and we talked and been through shit with each other. It was a blast of a wedding. Friends to this day. Gaming really can form long lasting relationships

My childhood bestfriend died in our mid 20s, it was tough but i tried to move on. A year later i made an imprunto deal with a stranger to be bestfriends! Finding out my bestfriend died, his bestfriend died.. our deal made sense! We were each other's bestman in marriage, godfathers to our kids, we just continued the role of each other's dead bestfriends. Some 30 years after, we are still going strong at it, we've been far away from each other all these times now, but never lost contact. When we have meet ups for after so long, we always have these incredible bear hugs, and the closeness never waned. I never thought i'd get another chance at bestfriendship!😊

This is how my son now in his mid 30s met his best friend. We did a supervised meeting as he was in his mid teens at the time, and they are the best friends even now, both married to long term girlfriends, but still the best of friends. It’s always worrying when people meet people from games and social media too and you should always be extremely careful but you can find great friendships.

I met one friend of mine over online hockey gaming. I didn't plan on it. But a few years after meeting him online I decided to get my CDL. My company one day sent me to his hometown. I h him up. We met up, got food, played some madden. The boys are like that.

It's crazy I've actually had the chance to meet a gaming buddy of 8 years in real life. You'd think it would feel weird or different seeing them in person for the first but honestly I felt like I'd already hung out with him a million times before. It's awesome. Hope to meet more. Gaming friends of a long time you really talk to someone and share info everyday. My group of friends are the best. Lucky to have them
