I've heard about children murdering their parents over money, love/attention, jealousy, etc., but I've never heard about a child killing their parent to spare their feelings. Lisa has a lot to conquer in her tragic life, may she forever persevere.

I'm terrible with names, but there's an aspiring school shooter who did the same thing to his whole family. The worst part, in a catch 22 sort of way, is that he and every case of "altruistic killing" I see from the child's end always ends with them chickening out of whatever they were supposedly sparing everyone from and making the family murder even more pointless. Like obviously it's good that more death doesn't happen, but how about not killing anyone in the first place, eh? 😢

I live in LA, my husband is an executive in the industry, and I will say that hitting the big time as an actor isn’t always about how talented or good someone is, but instead, luck and/or connections! There are SO many amazingly talented actors, writers, etc out here who just can’t catch their big break, due to sheer numbers here in Hollywood, unfortunately. It’s literally like trying to win the lottery!

I went to school with this kid. I hung out with him on at least 4 occasions, through mutual friends. I remember he lived just down the street from me, and in the local paper I read about his arrest and his case. Me and my friends were blown away. I'm actually so shocked by some of the other stuff I learned in this video too. Ryan was a pretty good kid when I knew him. I also wanted to say I knew this kid for years, as I said we went to elementary and high school together. Wild.

This is truly a horrific story in so many ways. The poor loving mother taken from her daughter, his sister who is now left with the lost of both her loving amazing mother and a brother. I have unfortunately have suffered mental health issues since my teens. People who have never suffered truly overwhelming deep depression/anxiety, psychosis, suicidal ideation etc, don’t understand how fast, deep and all-consuming that downward spiral is. Suicidal ideation, homicidal thoughts etc become very very overwhelming and feel "right and normal", you no longer think that these horrific thoughts are not okay. I have unfortunatly had an episode similar to this (sever post partum psychosis with suicide and homicide ideation), it was only once I was hospitilised and medicated (at great expense) for a few months; that the horror of my thoughts and potential actions dawned on me. 19 years later and I still feel great shame, sadness and horror at my thoughts during that time. Its truly a horrific place to be in. While that does not now absolve him from being punished (and he is rightly being punished) for his awful crime, it does help you understand how he got there. Mental health needs far more money, research, hospitals and AFFORDABLE help for sufferers, then perhaps there will be less horror stories like this and there will be fewer victims.

I used to work in a psychiatric out patient facility. Also had a family member with mental difficulties that committed a horrible crime. Best thing I was ever told by Dr’s who treated these patients was, no matter their mental condition at the time of the crime they still have to face the repercussion of their actions, I deeply feel that this is an important aspect, so with acknowledgement of the crime the individual will be in a better place to access the help they need, no excuses, but they must face the reality of their actions. Treatment is most likely different with inpatient facility vs outpatient facility. But I believe this to be true.

Thank you! So many countries-Canada also I'm afraid-give such light sentences for even some heinous crimes and it turns my stomach. AND, in these countries, if they DO get a life sentence or a long one (20 years or more) they are out for various loopholes in half or less of the sentence. The worst one is 'good behavior'! Excuse me, if you are in a prison with a strict, set regimen, limited outside contact and no women around or a lot of time to make your own choices it is going to pretty damn easy to have good behavior which has nothing to do with living on the outside with the normal daily stressors and responsibilities! The jail is legally liable for the prisoner’s safety and maintaining their human rights. Anyone who is high risk will get accommodations to ensure they aren’t brutalized or killed under their care. I know there are people that disagree with this, but the primary point of jail is to rehabilitate, not torture, it’s prisoners. What he did is terrible, but leaving him open to being beat, raped, etc. is not going to undo it or make it better.

@@michelebedard2226 yes, of course. But if there is an obvious issue they can address, they will. For example, Danny Masterson was just convicted of rape. Rape convicts, like child abusers, are looked down upon by a lot of the prison community. They will likely sequester him in a jail that includes other similar offenders that are less likely to attack him for it. If a prisoner is trans, they will not house them with someone who has said they want to kill trans people, etc. It's a liability concern if it can be proven that there was a simple accommodation they could have made but didn't make it.
