Looked more into this story. Apparently the movie was very accurate to how things went down. The sniper that shot him in the end did not have clearance to do so. The shot surprised everyone because when he said he had a clear shot and if he could take it, his commanders said no. They were making good progress and Brian was about to let a hostage go for a pack of cigarettes. A grand jury did not find the officer guilty of breaking any laws. Not the first time he’s taken a fatal shot in similar situations, and didn’t face any consequences either before. Brian didn’t have to die.

I don't doubt this, I'm also a marine vet (pog). One time I ran out of meds for a chronic condition and was in severe pain. I called up the VA to see if they can write me a prescription because it was getting to the point that I couldn't even walk, they told me "Sir, it's veteran's day, we're closed. Thank you for your service. * Luckily I was able to talk to a civilian doc and he hooked gave me the go ahead. VA is bullshit.

The VA operates like an insurance company. Very hard to get anything done with them. I suffer from bad issues and they just wanted feed me pills and my therapist has to have a second person in the room when talking to me, because he is so terrified of me. That know how messed up I am and still did nothing. I still struggle every day. Maybe some of us can't be helped but we are just numbers to them. Some days when I am weak, I have dark thoughts like the guy in the show, other days I just stare at my pistol... Good days I sleep and don't have nightmares that are to bad. I used to think being good in a fight and being a big guy made me tough. Now, not feeding myself a bullet and waking up to a new day is makes me feel tough. Some days are harder than others. Love to any other vets who read this. You are hero's and my brothers and sisters. Stay strong...

With all the taxpayer dollars spent on the military each year, we can't even take care of the vets that have risked their lives in the name of freedom. Whether they have joined the army, marines, or the air force due to poverty or not, we have truly neglected all these men and women. All the marketing spent on recruitment, but after serving, it's just a big f-you.

Now they're just broken husks of their former selves, with either physical, biological, or mental disabilities that will not likely to allow them to serve again. I am a veteran and if you are a veteran please read this. If the VA owes you anything you have to learn their rules and keep fighting for what you are owed. If you are non white that goes double for you. There are studies showing that none white veterans get shafted the most. After almost 14 years of fighting them I finally made some head way and are getting some benefits. Don't take your life for their foolishness. The VA's whole existence is based on giving up THE LEAST amount of money to veterans that's possible, THE LEAST. That is so they can pocket it themselves. Fight them by learning the system. Ask questions under here I will help if I can.

As someone who's has gone through that very VA system and been repeatedly shit on by people, who have a position that exists solely to prevent veterans from attaining their just benefits, in that system...(for me though it was mostly the stick up their asses dickhead paper pushers IN the AF, not the VA itself as much honestly)...I can see WHY he did what he did. It wasn't the best course of action or even a good one, but to not see the why you'd have to be a sociopath. Although the VA itself eventually did right by me, it took YEARS of constant effort. They eventually did the right thing, but solely on the financial front, because their actual medical ability is sorely lacking. Their drs have far more patients than regular GPs and as such so much gets lost into the cracks of memory. I dont blame the drs at all. It's the people at the top, who won't pay high enough rates for the truly gifted drs to consider working for them unless they are already independently wealthy and choose to help veterans simply to provide what help they can. The system is a shit show. It's gotten better but not only is getting an actual in person appointment going to take quite a while and it'll be further away than a week most likely, when you DO get in there, you are rushed and the drs are juggling so many things that it's no wonder shit gets missed. Then, if you need a prescription...you better be prepared to wait in a stuffy room for hours on end listening to that droning DMV robotic voice calling numbers the entire time. It's just poorly implemented. It COULD be made better and it wouldn't even take much effort. But it WOULD cost money. And that's the crux, why pay money to make things convenient and accessible to men and women who spent years sacrificing for their country...after all those men and women already have learned how to sacrifice their time and will wait regardless.

What’s bullshit is that I along with probably the majority of Americans would be fine with our tax dollars being used to improve the system for our veterans, yet the people up top give away billions and billions to other countries or to other stupid agendas instead, that don’t ever benefit us. Seems like they just take our money and do whatever they want, instead of listening to us and being the representation of our voice like they’re supposed to be
