5:13 yes, the gods you start with, like Zeus or Thor, are called Mayor God and the gods you advance age with, like Apollo or Tyr, are called Minor Gods and yes, the factions are also called Civilizations like in AoE

Gotta be honest, I just the game to fast, i judged it by the tutorial and the cartoonish style of some thing's like the minotaur, but it really does look good! It looks polished in a cartoonish sense and the best thing, it's going to be worked on continuously for the far future!

@@batzd Well clearly they got some lock on cause that was way to precise. The old meteor was quite random and sometimes it missed 90% of the shots. Also seems like they added some extra meteors. That plus the doubling units was a crazy addition to the Egyptians.

I honestly don't see any major changes. Gameplay is the same, graphics are a bit better, a few minor new stuff but that's all

not sure what your idea of minor is but I think the double units upgrade was quite a lot, plus using god powers more than once. The meteor swarm is a lot more reliable than before, and I don't know what else.

There are quite a few changes that are just "one line of text" but make for a vastly different game, most of it which is great IMO. Makes the play styles per god even more unique.

It's a major visual overhaul, the UI is different, there are dozens of gameplay changes, some of them global such as GPs being renewable for favour, removing the favour cap etc. It's full of major changes, but the core gameplay is meant to be the same, because it's ultimately a remake not a sequel or new iteration.

its not a random nuke, its a enemy god power, and you also have a nuke, greeks have a tempest, based on mythology, besides you must prepare yourself if you know the enemy is egyppt you know they can have shifting sands, meteor, tornadoes etc etc

Boit was basically smurfing on this guy. Normally, the other player would have been able to put serious pressure on boit to hopefully slow down his mythic rush and therefore his meteor timing. This would give the other guy time to build more and get upgrades to make his buildings stronger

Why do the graphics look so much worse than some of the gameplay reveal videos? I understand it’s beta but this looks night and day difference. Graphics aren’t everything but it would be nice if it looked better than aoe4 considering it’s releasing much later

you're essentially saying a remaster should look better than an entirely new game, which is both unreasonable and not remotely what the history of remasters would lead you to expect. The graphics look the same as the trailers, it's just that the trailers were a) zoomed in, and b) at low angles. By contrast players tend to play zoomed out so they can see what they're doing, the RTS-level view is a high angle.

I'm a bit put off by the fact they're charging £30+ for a barely upgraded remake of an old game (although I did go play some of the original after seeing these vids). It just seems like a cheap cash grab to me.

It's more than just a barely upgraded remake. They bring in some good changes, such as reusable god powers.
