Declan Rice is completing his journey from the West Ham Academy of Football to the pinnacle of international football this November.
Our captain is in Qatar for his first World Cup, where he will pull on the Three Lions to face Iran, USA and Wales in Group B.

I don’t see many central midfielders in the world better than Dec in terms of all round ability. You have players like De Bruyne who are much more creative and who can score and players like Veratti who are technically unreal but in terms of overall ability and what they can do, I don’t see anyone in world football better than Dec. Proud to have him at the club.

Great video, I love these type of interviews although I would have liked to see him asked about the switch of allegiance from Ireland to England and what that was like and how that came about and why he did that and just everything about that but apart from that, I really can't fault the media team they've produced some quality videos during this WC break 😁

If you take my advice, you would watch him twice playing his football for West ham. There's Arsenal and Chelsea & Tottenham to but none of 'em have anyone as good as you. Almost completely one-footed and not as good as Scott Parker yet... if he'd the best in the Premier League then god help the PL! He's a great lad no doubt but Captain he isn't and it's affecting his development. Let the lad develop without the pressure, but we won't and can't because Moyes is suffocating the squad and so Dec feels the need to try and hold it all together
