Agreed, he could easily be against a set with pocket 9s or Js playing the hand the exact same way. It's also super possible based on the action that he has KK or AA. Maybe AK clubs suited takes this line. If you can't lay down an overpair in a spot like this, I imagine you're going broke in a lot of instances/situations. Hindsight is 20/20 but feel like this would be a standard fold in that spot.
