@@ronrhoades8594 You think women who get hurt and have to sit around doing nothing don't feel useless? I've had two wrist surgeries, a thumb surgery then injuries from a fall (all of this since Sept 30th of last year) that have kept me from doing what I need to get done. However, I gave myself that time to heal before jumping back into things. I might only be able to work for short periods, but I still feel useless. AND I never apologize for not getting things done!

The amount of swelling or local bleeding into the muscle (from torn blood vessels) can best be managed early by applying ice packs and maintaining the strained muscle in a stretched position. Heat can be applied when the swelling has lessened. However, the early application of heat can increase swelling and pain

When I tweaked my back a few months ago, I was all set to lie flat with heat on it until it started easing up. I spoke to my doctor who advised my not to do that. She said to take the pain killers and keep it moving. I thought I was in for days and days of pain, but following her advice it cleared up really quickly. It was amazing. Very counter-intuitive. This was a lower back issue.

@@renitarowing359 OH yeah. I was rear ended I guess pretty gently, but it messed me up. Regular doctor would not even touch me to see where it hurt, just tossed pain pills at me. So I immediately went to the Chiropractor. Explained what happened, and they touched and figured out where the pain was. He did his thing, after 3 visits I felt pretty much normal. Western medicine just wants to cut you open or give you pills, not actually HEAL you.

We use the hot and cold method in the UK 20 minutes hot then straight after 20 minutes cold and then repeat, it reduces inflammation and helps with muscle spasms. Oh and then go see a chiropractor!! Not possible here as lockdown means no hands on full stop.
@h.s.6269
@h.s.6269 3 жыл бұрын
You need to use heat with spasms to get the muscles to actually relax down. Once spasms pass then alternating between hot and cold works well. While ice helps with pain and inflammation you have to be careful around spasms because cold makes the muscles tighten up more instead of relaxing the length of the muscle. I have chronic pain and regularly go to a physical therapist who is a natural in his field. I've always preferred ice to heat because it brings the pain down but the long term effect of that is my muscles are tight as hell and won't release tension easily.

You two make me laugh so much. I thank you for that, especially when I'm feeling down. Can't wait to see the chicken coop -- sounds like your new chickens might be the only ones to have their own condo. Oh my, I just had the best belly laugh with your T--Rex little one. Jeremy, please take as long as you need to heal that back. I have all the patience in the world and I will certainly look forward to that new chicken coop.

I did the same coughing due to a chest infection. The correct amount of rest and movement in balance for you is the key to recovery.

I've had back surgery before, go see a chiropractor! It took 2 years after surgery to repair 2 discs to even feel better! You could have dislocated a rib or two as well from the sneeze that haven't anchored back to the backbone! Both my wife and I had that happen and it hurts as much as a ruptured disc!

When my wife had back muscle spasms, a PT recommended ice rubs to relax the muscles. Fill styrofoam cups with water and freeze them. Peel the foam to reveal 1/2" of ice. Put a wet washcloth over the ice and then rub the spasmed area with the cloth covered ice until the skin gets blotchy. The muscle will usually have relaxed by then. Do not rub anymore or you could cause frostbite. You are showing the reality of building your own place. Injuries happen. I hope that it heals fast and completely. Good Luck, Rick

Make a call to the physical therapist. Have them hook you up to the little electrodes. It’s amazing I went in not being able to breathe. They put heat in and the electrodes and I felt 100% better when they finished

When I moved into my first house, I wanted to get everything done, yesterday. Then, my Dad said, "Joyce, you have a lifetime to do it. Take your time." I know you need the coop, but take it slower. Also, tall people often have more problems with their backs...all that elevation. I'm tall, and have to take care of my back.

Hope you feel better soon, I know the feeling! I have a reoccurring lower back injury that I got snowmobiling 30+ years ago. The last time my back went out was about a year ago while picking up a sock! Frustrating! Get better soon, love the content you all put out!

You might need to get a back brace to work in too. A friend didnt listen to his doctor soon enough, so his back goes out everytime he lifts over 30 pounds in a brace or not.

Back brace can make your body dependant it which in the long term is bad, but physical therapy may be what he needs.

Jeremy letting you know from someone with serious back issues try sneezing into a firm pillow. By holding a larger firm pillow against your chest you limit the pulling on your back. Never hold a sneeze. It can cause all sorts of pain.
