dallys death was actually so sad he loved johnny so much and he couldn’t be without him and some people don’t realize that he actually killed himself and that he knew he would die by pulling the gun out but did it anyway bc he couldn’t live without johnny bc johnny was the only reason that dally didn’t give up and when johnny died he had no reason to live anymore

Dally was just a kid, he didn’t deserve to be shot, but as the story says, he couldn’t take it..

it genuinely shocks me that we read this book in school as a grade and whatnot - with all its deep meaning and harder-to-comprehend scenes we would discuss after reading a chapter. only one or two courageous students would really speak on it and how the characters must've been feeling through and through, and the teachers really dug the moral. i'm glad we did though, because it's gut-wrenching and life-learning and changing for many, and it was one hell of a unit to end the school year off with. we watched the movie and even did a reenactment reader's theatre with a script which was a blast (my group and i did the drive-in movie theatre coke scene, and i got to be dallas winston with all his sly comments!) and i wouldn't change it for the world from the fun experience we all got. this book has become a comfort of mine despite it all, and forever will.

We read the book in my reading class and I don't normally like reading. But this book has a way of capturing you in the moment and drawing all your attention to the book. Dare I even say, it was fun to read. I personally don't enjoy reading at all, but now we are in the last week of school and we are watching the movie. And I am actually really enjoying it, only if my teacher didn't pause the movie so much🙄. The book explained everything so well and the characters in the movie are great actors. I am starting to wish already that there was a The Outsiders 2, please let me know if there are any other good books like this. I bought a phone case and a pop socket thats The Outsiders themed, and also bought a stay good ponyboy shirt. This book is so great!!!!
