Ainz didn't lie. Remember last episode when you said those workers who got killed by the skeleton were the lucky one? They truly are, and arche get to join them. Everyone else don't get to die.

The thing is though, that ainz's friends were more than gamer buddies. See, in the novels it is explained how bleak their world is. In real life momonga was so overworked. The only thing he looked foward to was gaming. His mother even died from overwork and that was largely the same for most of the guid members. Then considering that the game had VR elements, it felt like the team mates were actually there. They spoke about their daily struggles to each other in the game and shared their experinces since that wasnt possible in the real world. So they were like a band of really close friends who play a game together. So much so that they were a family with deep connections with each other. Thats why ainz is so passionate about them. They were like his only real friends in the world

For those that want the full scene between Imina, Roberdyck, and Ainz “Let’s go, Rober!” “Yes! Ohhhhhhh!” With an uncharacteristic battle cry, the charging Roberdyck brought his mace down on Ainz’s face. It was a strike made with all his strength. It was precisely because he thought that Ainz would not evade it that he put all his might into the blow. Although Ainz took the full-power strike in the face, he did not react with pain as expected. Roberdyck followed up his attack, reaching out with his bare hand. “[Middle Cure Wounds]!” The healing spell was targeted at Ainz. When exposed to healing-type magic, undead would take damage instead. However, like the attack spell Arche cast earlier, it vanished uselessly against an invisible wall. “Ahhhhh!” Imina tensed her bowstring as she cried out. Then - she loosed. Although Roberdyck was next to Ainz, she was not nearly bad enough to actually hit him. Rather, at this range, there was no way she could miss. Yet - the arrows struck Ainz, and fell to the ground without doing any damage whatsoever. Ainz vanished. It was the same tactic as earlier. “Teleportation!” “Not quite.” As expected, the voice came from behind. “I-” Before Roberdyck could finish, Ainz’s hand gently settled on Imina’s shoulder. There was no hostility in that gesture. However, it had a telling effect. All the strength in her body vanished, and she slumped to the ground. Although her mind was fully functional and conscious, her body felt like a puddle of immobile, insensate slime. “What did you do to her?” Roberdyck asked his question in a trembling voice, as his eyes went from the collapsed Imina to Ainz, who stood by her side. “Was that a surprise? It’s nothing special.” Ainz proceeded to explain in such a way as to break Roberdyck’s spirit. “It was almost the same as just now. After casting a silent [Time Stop] I moved over here and cast the same spell I used on that man, [Touch of Undeath]. And then, I just touched her.” The air between them froze into silence. The sound of Roberdyck swallowing was exceptionally loud in comparison, “…You stopped time…” “Oh yes. Anti-[Time Stop] countermeasures are very important, don’t you know? You’ll need to have them by the time you hit level 70. Oh well, you’re going to die here, so in your case, it’s largely academic.” Roberdyck ground his teeth. He was lying. If only he could say that. If only he could deny everything this monster - this god - was saying. It would be better if he fell to his knees and clutched his ears to shut the words out. He understood that Ainz was very powerful. However, even with that considered, stopping time and the like was something that should not exist in this world. The march of time was a flow that could not be mastered or controlled by humanity. What could he do against a foe who was capable of such a feat? Cutting down an entire forest with a single sword would be an easier goal in comparison. Ainz Ooal Gown. He was a being that the human race could never defeat. He was a man who stood in the realm of divinity. He gripped his mace in both hands- -and he felt a light tap on his shoulder. “Ah…” Roberdyck’s body stopped moving. He did not have to look to know who had done it. It was Ainz Ooal Gown - that godlike being who could control the passage of time - who was supposed to be standing in front of him. When had he vanished from his field of vision? The cold flowing into him made him feel as though he had turned into an ice sculpture. Thus, any feeling and freedom were stripped from his body. “-It was useless, wasn’t it?” So spoke the gentle voice which carried no trace of enmity to Roberdyck. The mace fell from nerveless fingers, to the ground- Then, Ainz muttered as he looked to Roberdyck who had lost all will to fight. “Well, that was a waste of effort. I think I might have actually broken a sweat.” -It was completely useless. Every tactic and trick he had tried could not do even the slightest bit of damage to Ainz. Thoroughly defeated, Roberdyck looked quietly at Ainz, and calmly asked him a question: “I have something to ask. What is to become of me afterwards?” “Mm? Is it because you’re a divine magic caster and you think you won’t end up in the same state as those other two?” With that as a premise, Ainz began his explanation. “Well, let’s start with those two. Aura, take them to the Large Cave. Gashokukochuuou says he’s running out of nests.” The Dark Elf’s ears twitched, and her eyes went wide. “Ai-Ainz-sama! Mare! I can order Mare to go instead, right? Make him go there instead!” “Oh, hm. Fine with me.” “Understood! I’ll let Mare go instead!” “As for that, I apologize. There will be no kind fate in store for them. I think we won’t be able to learn it… so do you want to take part in a human experiment?” “…A human experiment?” “That’s right. For instance, when we alter your memories so the god you believe in is someone else, what will happen after that?” He’s insane. That was Roberdyck’s deepest and most honest thought about the situation. No, he’s undead. It wouldn’t be strange no matter what he did. Ainz took a step back, looking with deep interest at Roberdyck. That look was the way a scholar would examine a laboratory animal, and it made Roberdyck want to throw up. “Why, why do you want to do that?” “To prove that god exists… eh, I’m not going to bother going on with that joke. Truthfully, I want to become stronger by understanding the nature of that power. And if those beings you call gods really exist, I want to know if they have emotions or thoughts. I want to confirm that. As for me, I have never thought of myself as a chosen being. In truth, there are many others like that.” Roberdyck had no idea what Ainz was talking about. “Therefore, expanding military preparations is essential. Of course, it may be that no enemies exist, or if they do exist, none of them are as strong as we are. However, don’t you think that the leader of an organization shouldn’t be negligent? After all, if we rest on our laurels, we’re likely to have our feet cut out from under us when we least expect it. Confirming the existence of gods is part of that.” Ainz shrugged as he finished speaking.

By allowing this failed expedition, Ainz has 1) revealed Nazarick to the world, 2) showcased their military strength, 3) justified his control of the surrounding territory, 4) secured resources and experimentation for Nazarick, 5) tested Albedo's leadership abilities realtime. That was Demiurge 's plan in a nutshell. On a side note, one thing I really enjoy about this show is just how much it showcases the merits and flaws of opposing sides. You root for both sides. Both sides do horrible things. The real world mirror is strong, just how much could be different both in the story and our own lives if only we sat down and listened while empathizing. Instead, we see the opposite: chaos, war, and opportunistic strife.

Dam I nearly chocked on laughter while listening Luke at 21:00 being all happy about how Ains was going to let her go. Next episode might not be the most action packed or epic or emotional, but it is my personal favorite episode of the whole Overlord series.

It was also her body they were talking about when saying how it was distributed. And for extra messed up info, I heard that in the Light Novel (the source material for Overlord) that Arche's parents ran out of money buying stuff "like a noble should" and sold off the sisters, who later died of overwork. So yea, overlord is fucked up!

"Touch of undeath" was a higher tier status effect spell to prevent himself from accidentally killing them, which is why he said it was overkill if a simple paralyzation spell is enough to subdue them. His cautious nature causes him to always overestimate his opponents, sometimes to extreme degrees.

Fun Fact: At the beginning, Momon has a question: "Will you get enough gold to risk your life?" And they just laugh and say yes. That way he can kill them all with no mercy.

1. Ainz didn’t lie about showing mercy to that girl. Remember in the previous episode with the Roaches and weird tentacle monster? Just giving her death was indeed a mercy compared to capturing her like the rest of them. 2. I REALLY LOVE THIS SHOW 😂

In the english dub Ains said something different to Rober (the religious magic caster) after defeating him. He said something like "if your power comes from your believe in god and I change your memory to believe in another god and your power still works then what is the worth of your believe?"

@22:37 - 22:45 The Large Hole is an area of Nazarick located on the 6th Floor: The Jungle (the same floor that houses the night sky, forest, and the Amphitheater). Its area guardian is Gashokukochuuou, one of the 5 Worst, hence Aura's reaction. She just didn't want to deal with one of them and pushed responsibility to Mare (she did the same when Kyouhukou, another of the 5 Worst, was briefly mentioned in a prior episode, 3x01). Nazarick's 5 Worst are a group consisting of 5 NPCs named because of an attribute that makes them so disturbing to be around that even some of the Supreme Beings used to avoid them, hence Aura's reaction. The members of the 5 Worst include: 1. **Gashokukochuuou (titled: Worst Appearance):** As previously mentioned, he or they are the Area Guardian of the Large Hole located on Nazarick's 6th floor. We don't know what their appearance is, but it's likely a colony of insectoid parasites. Hekkeran (Foresight's leader) and Imina (The purple-haired half-elf/Hekkeran's love interest) were essentially taken to be the "New House" and food for Gashokukochuuou and his family and are kept barely alive, just a few feet apart, solely for that reason. 2. **Neuronist Painkill (titled: Worst Occupation):** As seen in the previous episode, she's the uniquely designed green NPC with a cephalopodic head and googly eyes, wearing BDSM leather, and long polished nails. She's Nazarick's chief Special Intelligence Collector (torturer) and was designed to be a sadist to the max and is very good at her job. She's the area guardian of the Frozen Prison, located on Nazarick's 5th Floor. She's a good girl who deserves just as much love as Albedo & Shalltear😤. 3. **Kyouhukou (Titled: Worst Resident):** As seen in the previous episode, he's the regal-looking giant (30 cm) cockroach. He's the area guardian of the Black Capsule located on the 2nd Floor. His children are often fed whatever scraps they get but resort to eating each other sometimes. But thanks to this invasion, they get free food (the worker Gringham, who wore the fancy army, and his allies, who were eaten from the inside out). Moreover, he likes healing the food (captives) to regenerate the missing parts before it spoils (they die), so his children can get seconds or even third helpings. Kyouhukou and his family are also in charge of "educating" outsiders that are brought into Nazarick's fold (like the leaders of 6 fingers who were captured back in season two), "baptizing" these new members amongst his children, and repeatedly healing them until their wills were sufficiently broken and reeducation was complete. He doesn't like the Pleiades maid Entoma (the insect one with the mask) because she likes to sneak into his area and eat his children. 4. **Chacmool (titled: The Worst Personality):** We actually don't know much about this one. He's in the Web Novel (prototype to the Light Novel) and one of the mobile games but hasn't been introduced in the canon Light Novel or Manga. Supposedly he's based on a weird elephant monster from Cthulhu mythos and is musically talented. 5. **Unknown (titled: Worst Ero):** Unknown at this time, they are unnamed. And mostly undescribed. We know nothing about them other than tentacles and a cage being involved in their design. Even their title may just be a joke placeholder. **Summary of Arche's actual plot:** So in the Light Novel, it's made way more apparent why Arche is so desperate to take her sisters and run. Back at the beginning of the arc, when Roberdyck & Hekkeran were drinking, they were actually met by a debt collector looking for Arche, and they chased him off. Arche's parents, who I'm sure the commenters mentioned, were former nobles who were deposed when the Bloody Emperor Jircniv took the throne and got rid of all useless nobles (leeches who abused their power, had no governing skills, were corrupt, and/or refused to bend the knee). Her delusional parents refused to admit that they were fallen nobles and kept spending money on pointless things-like the fancy expensive lamp they bought. The thing about it is, if her parents don't pay back their debts, the debt collectors would get them arrested, they'd likely be sold off to work until to repay their debts. Arche became a worker to pay off the debts and support the family, even though she had a very rare talent (Magic Power perception-a skill also held by the Empire's Head Court mage Fluder Paradyne) & could perform magic up to the 3rd tier from training as a worker/Foresight without formal education on magic. That would've gotten her immediate acceptance into the Empire's Academy. This mission to Nazarick would've been Foresights's last, as they knew the group couldn't survive as they were without a 3rd-tier mage like Arche, plus they really wanted to her and her sisters help escape this life. Hekkeran and Roberdyck teased the option of finding a new 2nd tier mage and training them up, but decided against it because the current Foresight party felt more like family. Plus Hekkeran and Imina wanted to retire together, which they could certainly do with their portion of the rewards for investigating the tomb. Sadly, Foresight was defeated and Arche died of a heart attack/shock after seeing Shalltear's true vampiric face (the Lamprey-looking monster form). And yes, her voice was given to Entoma via her leech. -Sad part, parents & older siblings, you have been warned: _ _ _ _ _ **@**28:36** The fate of Arche's sisters (not in LN but told by author):** Unfortunately, since Arche obviously never made it home, her scumbag parents-who wrongly believed she ran off-had to make up for their debts somehow. So they sold their twin girls into slavery to save themselves. The twins later died at a young age, from work over-exhaustion as slaves.

The sisters in the end while be sold as slaves and be work to death by slave owners to pay there fathers gambling debt And of you read the story its 10 times darker

In case no one mentioned this, When they were lying about having permission to enter the tomb, the description that was given could resemble Touchme, one of Ainz's best friends and the one that saved him and helped to create their guild. Hence when they were speaking he got his hopes up and therefore got extremely angry afterward.

One thing worth remembering is that Ainz and Demiurge orchestrated for the workers to venture into Nazarick. Most of the flow guardians do not know this which is why Ainz ordered everyone to cover their ears when speaking to the foresight team and revealing such edit- My mistake, they knew about the plan but he didn't want them to hear him complaining about the plan

Momon attacking Nazarick would be technically illegal. The reason why only the workers invaded Nazarick was that it's actually illegal for adventurers of the empire to raid a ruin located inside the kingdom's territory. Raiding Nazarick is basically a dirty job that only workers could do. The adventurers could only stay behind to guard the luggage. Ainz fighting the workers in the arena was because he wanted to test out his training results. Ainz had been training as a warrior so he wanted to see how he would fare if he fights purely in close combat without magic.

funny thing is the guy with the two shields was meant to be the strongest of the emperors personal guards. and he just gets instantly killed.

glad im not alone with the idea of momon swooping in and act as if defending the workers but after a little show, he would then walk towards Ainz, bow down and say “was my acting good, Father?” 😂

"We don't know what Ainz is doing." What do you mean, we obviously know. He's following the Plan. Yes, THAT plan. The "Totally NOT Going With The Flow He Isn't Aware Of" plan. Also, 21:40 Ainz wasn't lying: In Nazarick, giving Mercy to someone they want to kill doesn't means "to let they survive": it means killing them fast and painlessly, instead of keeping them alive for torture and experiments. Did you really think he'd allow someone of the group who lied "using his most beloved comrades' names" to leave alive? 37:20 Momon's job was simply to watch over their luggage/base; not accompany them in the attack to the tomb.

[ FUN TRIVIA ] Did you know that among the worker group, Foresight, the only one who died among them is just Arche? Yes, you read that right. After losing the fight against Ainz, her comrades were then turned into a rag doll-like state by the spell [ Paralysis ], therefore making them incapable of doing anything. With a hope that she could escape from Ainz through the use of [ Fly ], she later found herself in despair as Shalltear tells her that they're still Underground and that she will die there. Of course, she was killed painlessly as Ainz ordered. Her arms are used by something called "Deadman Struggle". A part of her skin was requested by Demiurge. Her head was given to a Silk hat demon. Her vocal cords were eaten by a Lip bug for Entoma's use. And the rest, was used as a fodder for Grant's children. While she's now dead, her comrades are still alive, but of course, they're in an invulnerable state, with Hekkeran and Imina turned into Gashokukochouu's "nest" and with Roberdyck being mentally corrupted as several experiments were done into him.

"Touch of undeath" can grant multiple bad stats However, it is difficult to use because it requires touching. This time, out of multiple effects, I used paralysis on the "leader" and a different effect from paralysis on the "priest."

To be fair Luke, Ainz just takes florida's Castle law to its legal extreme. They did technically enter uninvited, steal/plan to steal from him, and attack his servants even if they were just easily replaceable undead summons. It is akin to a thief breaking in, eating your gold fish, and then begging for mercy while lying as you cock your shotgun doom style.

On the thing about Albedo being in love with Momonga and him calling himself Ainz. She still loves him, but she doesn't really care for the new name. There was an episode in season 2 that alluded to this, but it wasn't as obvious as in the light novel.

A fan asked what happened to Arche's sister, after her brother's death. Author Maruyama-sensei stated after Arche disappeared from her last job. His younger siblings named Kuuderika and Ureirika were sold into slavery by their parents, because they could not pay their debts. Both eventually died from overwork.

As a guild licensed adventurer, Momon is not even allowed to enter the tomb without special permission from the Adventurers Guild. None of the people who entered had guild permission which is why they were all "trashy Workers" rather than licensed adventurers. The most Momon was allowed to do was guard their base camp, since he is a licensed adventurer.

You don't know about the Nazarick floor is underground because the translation. The original japanese literally says" Nazarick underground tomb" The word underground is missing in English translation. But then again, the tomb is always under the ground...so, yeah.

13:57 Undead means something that supposed to be dead but their still moving, like vampires, they have no heart so they need blood, or skeletons and zombies, they're literally rotting or already rotted away but they're still moving... maybe Touch of Undead would kill them and make them Momonga's followers or something

30:20 It is written in her characteristics that she loves MAMONGA (Mamonga prescribed this for fun). The description of the guards is like genetics for you. Albedo doesn't like that Mamonga changed his name, but she unquestioningly obeyed his choice of name. Later in the series, Albedo, in a fit of happiness, blurts out the name Mamonga and not Ains.

A lot of people don't think about the fact that Momonga is the villain of this world. Just as they don't notice the cruelty and treachery of the inhabitants of Nazarick. This was due to a competing guild in the Empire called the Workers, who I think aren't as strong as most Adventurers, but work cheaper than the Adventurers Guild. So Ainz (through the count Frumar I think), creates a job for the Workers to raid the Tomb of Nazerick. He uses the incentive of a large up-front payment, and the promise of more pay plus keeping whatever artifacts they find to entice the strongest Workers to show up. Once the Workers enter the Tomb he kills or captures them all. Here's the clever bit. With the Workers strongest members gone, the Adventurers Guild (with a bit of encouragement from Momon) can step in and start taking over contracts that would have gone to the Workers before. This elevates the power and status of the Adventurers Guild, AND gets everyone talking about the black-armored adventurer who made it happen. Momon gets to make more money, and his name is spread all over the Empire by word of mouth without Ainz having to lift a finger. World Domination Version 0.0.1 complete.
