@@Renshyra what better way to learn than being beat by someone way better than you? But yes they need more levels, even their unfair bots doing 4v1 isnt a challenge. Theyre pro level bots are easily beaten by bronze players. Makes their bots pretty useless when it comes to training.

Maybe if you need training with ball control but you have to train blocking shots, dealing with other people's flicks or air dribbles, shooting on the net with a defender, or just learning how to do things while an opponent is on the field trying to rush you. Its why pros and coaches talk about the best way to get better is to just play online, specifically 1v1.

@@dh2054 perhaps, but I think that the difference isn’t made by switching oski out for zen, as I think their overall strategy needed to be changed. They just didn’t have a winning strategy against seer, and perhaps zen would’ve changed that but I think that without proper knowledge of how seer works (which is what joyo and oski were dealing with at the time), adapting in a bo5 is difficult

You can see the tactic to beating these bots is driving really close and playing aggressive without fully commiting, causing seer to keep jumping then you counterattack. By the last game muscle memory kicked in and they were flipping into the ball as if its a ranked game then getting walked on💀

Recommendation for a follow up version of this. I think the human players should be able to see the bots through the ball to make this a fair comparison. If the bots are really using player positioning data to make decisions then they can technically see through the ball too. Im sure the players could be more consistent with perfectly timed flicks and other things if they had the same information as the bots do. The players should be able to see the bot’s boost too.

You literally cannot get as much information as the bots do. The bots have every single boost pads timer on the map so they know when each pad will spawn for each player. They can see the location, rotation, velocity, and angular velocity of every single car on the field and the ball. They can see each players controller input. They can tell if all players still have their flip in the air. A human cannot process that much information, it would be like having a complete top down view of the game and watching from every single players perspective simultaneously.

trying to make a human vs bot match "fair" is missing the point entirely. bots and humans can each do things that the other obviously can't do. that being said, a mod allowing you to see players through the ball more effectively would be cool.

Thanks for the replies both of you. I understand your points that it can never be fair and I agree. And I’m not saying that the point of this video was for it to be fair. Im just wondering what it may look like if the players had some of the advantages that the bots do. Excuse my huge lack of understanding of how these models are trained. But my understanding is that feeding the bot player boost data and car positioning data which would not be visible to the player is a crutch to enhance the efficacy of the training, and not a requirement. While training a bot with data that is limited more closely to what a player would have may not be feasible at this time (location, rotation, velocity, and angular velocity of every car and ball visible on the screen, and having to infer everything off screen that a human would have to), I just thought it would be interesting to bring it closer by giving the player more information than they would normally have. “Fair” was not the right word so apologies for that.

Tbf to the bot, all of these things ‘could’ be known by human players as well granted with good communication. Boost timers are simple enough, and amount of boost could be estimated by a human based on watching every pass they pass over and how much they are boosting. It’s just far too much information to actually follow mid game.

the RLBot engine has no way to have the bot play on your account for obvious reasons. It's theoretically possible to code but I think people would be worried if Leth tried something like that

This just pisses me off... these are 100% being used in ranked right now, not a chance these incompetent devs are preventing it. they are not being used in ranked because no one has the code except ultrawide (and now leth apparently). psyonix has banned bot developers from posting it for this reason. they could probably do an anticheat but epic doesn't care about any game except fortnite so they'd rather be lazy and just tell bot developers not to post it.
