Nice videoLiving on the island, I agree that the Gates on the Island are incredibly frustrating. Unfortunately lot of those gates have been put up because of people leaving their garbage behind. But, there are still a lot of beautiful spots that you can camp at. You just have to keep exploring.

Gates ? Ya my corrupt INCOMPETENT government pays for the gates. So do we. The gates are mine /ours. Phuck the gates I yank em right out. Straight up enough is enough. It's our world not governments. Phuck governments the world is collapse so phuck any rules at this point. Government I mean. Respect personal property ect and woman and kids but phuck government. We are yanking many gates down on mainland. Enoughs enough it's our land.

Mosaic/Timberwest own the old E&N lands and log them if you have a placer or mineral claim within their lands you can apply for either a northern key or a southern island key provided you agree to their terms and give them a $500 refundable deposit...you sign a contract and renew it every year... do not leave anything behind when you go or risk losing it..take all garbage with you ..and watch for logging trucks....

Last year I spent 4 months on the Island touring around in my car and staying in it. Just love Vancouver Island. ❤️ thanks for showing us the beauty that has to offer :)

ps. pole pruners work well to disable power to cameras that monitor gates😂

Forestry gate their roads, because we have exploited the right for access, by leaving rubbish, damaging forestry equipment, started fires and been a nuisance to the recovery of logging. Nobody to blame but ourselves and those whom we do not report when we see them doing wrong!

hihi.... did Chrome look into all such issue with gates? He never has talked about this gate situation in videos that i have seen but he is the dude that can find out (connections) ! Especially due to yearly fire season they may have been putting up gates. Many just leave broken down vehicles in woods there as we've seen on various videos. Also mattresses seems to be a big thing...super sketch!!

So sad to see all that garbage. That was happening around Nanaimo lakes area when we lived there some 20 years ago. It has spread with the population and is just so maddening to see all the natural beauty marred with human garbage.

Gates started going in about 10 years ago. Before that back in the 1980s you could go just about anywhere on the backroads. But with more people dumping garbage, living in the bush, human caused fires and damaging logging equipment gates started going in. Now we can't reach some of our favourite fishing spots. If a gate is open and you get locked in that is a huge bill to have someone come a open the gate.

My Nephew has been employed for the past year installing smart locks on gates all over the Island, they send notifications to movement and grinder vibrations, however you can sign out a key at BCFS offices.
