Everybody here is commenting on nostalgia. The train was sold at the asking price and it will live forever in this video, at least. Grandpa was made semi-famous in the transaction. I've seen these things go WAY worse than our host's process. Here's what happens next: the train sells on eBay for $312 + shipping. Who pays that much for a $40 item? A collector. What happens next? The collector loves the thing... maybe even more than grandpa did. And, it lives on there. Consider otherwise that a bratty kid gets it ($40 is a cheap trip to Wal-Mart with a child these days) and blows it up by 5PM. That was the alternate reality. Get over yourselves and let @Cincinnati Picker do his thing. He's honest and noble about it. Better than a crackhead would be. There are a lot of those in this business.

We all have things that we don't let go of because of nostalgia, but sometimes we realize that we can't take any of it with us and it's better to pass it on before we pass on. As I get older, I lose my emotional attachment to more of my things, and i avoid getting things that would just collect dust. John was respectful here and did not do anything wrong.

unbelievable! What a score on the trains... $ 25 for the jacket? Hell yeah! Did you see college pickers video on the Vintage LEVI jacket he picked up? You picked up a once in a lifetime find on the train. Pressed tin and painted. To test the locomotive, take a 9volt battery and touch opposing wheels and it should turn. Reverse the polarity and it will run the opposite way. I would set the train up and do a video of it. Your son would love it when he gets older. I picked up a whole set at a yard sale here in my neighborhood. American Flyer. Thanks for sharing.

Very cool video John. My grandfather had an elaborate train set that he built on a table of 4 sheets of plywood. He had the bridges, ramps, and villages. He put so much work into it. Seeing this sweet man with his train reminded me of my precious Grandfather. When he passed away, we donated the train to a convalescent home so the elderly patients can enjoy it. You are giving me lots of great ideas about what to start looking for at garage sales. Love your videos. They're very enjoyable. 😀❤

Its the buyers job to get lowest price and the sellers job to stick to the price they want. The buyer always goes in blind not knowing if all the pieces are there and if the item is in working order.I pay the least i can get by with, that way when i do get burned(which often happens, sellers do sometimes knowingly lie about working condition) it doesn't end my business.....and this is business.

I've watched countless videos from this contributor, and I've never witnessed one single incident in which he low-balled ANY price. Most of the time, he accepts the price they're asking. He bundles and expects a discount. Don't you? There's no basis for the scenario suggesting that he'd offer $15 for a $200,000 house. If he did, the house was only worth $25 retail. He's got expense in time and treasure buying these things. Go back to shaping your beard ironically.

John you could possibly get a decent amount for the train if you take it to one of your local hobbyist shops. I found a Lionel train in January of this year at the bin store for 10.00. It had five cars in it, one tower and lots of track. I flipped it the next day for 200.00. The hobby shop would be able to flip again for around 400 with the right buyer. And I didn't have to fool with Ebay, fees etc. I do this with a lot of my comics, cards, trains, etc. and get more in the long run there than trying to flip it online myself.

It's sad to say,we have become empty-nesters. Kids have move out of the house. We asked our children what they would want out of the house when Mom and dad are gone. No body wants a thing! NOTHING! This is how so many of the young folks feel today. So maybe it was worth it that Grand-paw sold his train set for $40.00 to someone who will appreciate it. Even for a while! I don't want my stuff to go to the dump, so Goodwill or cross-roads ministries, it will go. You buy cheap and sell high. Nothing wrong with that. If you feel guilty for selling it at a higher price ,split the money with grandpa. Great video's.

Hi! I have been watching your vids and they are pretty cool! I have been going to flea markets because of you and had so much fun. However, I have some questions tho: 1. Where do you draw the line between "taking advantage", "scamming" or just "having a lucky find". As I see it, as long as both parties are happy with the deal that is fine, but I still do not know if I personally feel that way. I have bought things for 20$ and sold them for 200$ (actual price) and cannot stop thinking if what I am doing is "fair". Even sometimes I just tell the people what they could get on ebay for their things and they thank me and take their stuff indoors. E.g those 1$ each boxes filled with Nintendo 64 or Gamecube games where each can be sold for 15$ in a second. 2. About your privacy: I have noticed that because of your body cam, your wallet can be seen whenever you pay someone. I have no idea if any important privat information can be leaked this way, but just wanted to let you know that sometimes one can get a pretty good glance of your wallet. I hope you took the chance to read this and share your point of views. Thank you very much!

skyline chili has a bigger following than you might think put it on Ebay but do auction, you might be surprised what it will bring... add the local pickup just in case you do find a local that wants it bad.

Very nice buy on the train set from a man that cherished it. Price it high so it will go to collectors and be taken care of. 💰
