My friend Ken moved to austin for a year to train at B Team. He's back, so we're having a rematch to see how good he got.

Omg I rolled with Ken on Friday evening at B-Team at the end of October! Super nice guy. He ended up in dominant positions so smoothly it was like magic. Hope he's doing well.

Good job both of you! Yes, it's an acquired trick blocking chokes. It takes practice both in holding breath and subtle head neck and body to just get enough air.
@mkum2141
@mkum2141 7 ай бұрын
The chokes being applied were blood strangles, meaning being able to "get air" doesn't actually help with defending the strangle. Holding your breath also does nothing to defend a blood strangle, the blood will be cut off from your brain irrespective of if you are breathing or not

You seemed to be totally dominating during the roll but trying to force the subs rather than adjust and be patient for the tap. It's something I noticed when I was doing guillotines as well, if I squeeze hard as I can my arms will just gas before they tap or sleep, but if I just be patient and hold in the correct position it always gets the tap and my arms aren't near as gassed. Sometimes in the arm triangle when I do it with my left arm as the choking arm I don't get as good a bite on the choke, but you take that second to readjust and just tighten everything up and you realize that when you have the chokes properly adjusted, it takes so little muscle to make them tap in the end.

Hi JoshRichBJJ! In one of your videos you had mentioned using Gordon Ryan’s instructional - I believe the sitting guard?* - and did so as a blue belt, citing this as an advantage of yours against your opponents. I am new to 10th planet (white belt 3 stripe from previous gyms that use the stripe system). Would you recommend at my level that I take a look at the instructional? You seem to have a lot of success with it but I see guys who are much higher belts not recommending it for lower level belts. Would love your insight if you have the time. Thanks for the great content!!
@JoshRichBJJ
@JoshRichBJJ 7 ай бұрын
With all Gordon Ryan instructionals he talks a lot and goes pretty in-depth when teaching, which can be daunting for some newer people. But I watched the seated guard at around the point ur at and it helped me a lot. Just skip the part where he does those ankle picks from bottom lol

@@AnGhaeilge nah, if you tap to a North South you are probably tapping to discomfort. Obviously if you have 20 kegs on someone you can get it but it is extremely low percentage.
