One of the best documentaries I’ve ever seen was the 1992 dream team documentary. Beautiful basketball 11 future Hall of Famers. Everyone was glued to their TVs whenever they played. it was an awesome time. Larry and Magic were.co-captains. Also is the last time either of them played. I watch the documentary often. It’s still reminds me of how I felt watching when they actually played.

My man, great reaction. You just saw Larry Legend. That's the tip of the iceberg. Keep watching. As for today's game? I'm not going to disrespect it or anyone's youth. Sure, it's changed, but it's not better. It's different. Every era was. There were great big men back in the day who were 7' or taller.Wilt Chamberlain was the most athletic of any of those bigs I saw play. He was a giant. (He also ran track and field and played pro volleyball.) Others early on include Kareem Abdul-Jabar, Ralph Sampson, Hakeem Olajuwon, for starters. 😊 Yeah, the game has changed. But those early years were magnificent, especially the 80s. We're not done with any era. Never will be. Now I've got playoffs to watch! Best of luck with your channel! Subbed.

After retiring from playing, Larry Bird went on to become the Pacers head coach .....and taught Reggie Miller to become one of the greatest 3 point shooters and clutch players of all time( Larry molded Reggie in his own image almost).check out Reggie against Michael Jordon under Larry's guiding hand, and then investigate the Pacers vs the Chicago Bulls play off games and Championship (Bulls won the ring ,but it was a legendary series).. Then go investigate the Pacers vs the New York Knicks rivalries and playoffs, again legendary, ( and look up the racist movie maker Spike Lee vs non-racist Reggie at the Knicks games , it spoke volumes about race in America,.....two Black men, one striving for peace, balance and teaching black youth excellence and the other inflaming them with movies about gang life, and slavery , keeping his own community in a cycle of hate and violence ) GO LEARN BASKETBALL HISTORY ! Throughout Larry Bird’s NBA journey, he succeeded in every role he attempted. As a player, he had one of the greatest careers of all-time; the 12-time All-Star won three championships, three MVP awards and two Finals MVP awards. Then, after retiring, the Hall-of-Famer thrived as a head coach and general manager with the Indiana Pacers. Bird became just the second person in NBA history to be honored as Coach of the Year and Executive of the Year (joining Pat Riley). Bird coached the Pacers from 1997 to 2000, going 147-67 in the regular season and 32-20 in the playoffs. Indiana advanced to at least the Eastern Conference Finals in each of Bird’s three years on the sideline, and they made the NBA Finals in 2000.

You should also know that 95 percent of the highlights you just saw were from NBA playoff games. For instance, that video of him following up the refund and transferring the ball from the right to the left hand so that he could get the ball back from under the backboard to drop in the shot, that was from the 1981 finals game against the Houston Rockets. Who else can put together a highlight reel almost exclusively from playoff games?

Larry bird Would average a triple double right now today in 2024 in his sleep !! That man broke his cheekbone on his face and came back and lit it up !! Some of the players today break a fingernail, and they’re out for a month !! Larry bird played most of his career with a terrible back injury ! When he would come out of the game, he would have to lay on his stomach ! Because he couldn’t sit down …. Larry Bird had the heart of a lion !! I know this all too well because I became a Laker fan because of Magic Johnson. So friend, I was born in 1960. My life has been so blessed from all the truly great athletes I have seem. Whats hard for you to realize, was the late 70's through the early 90's, we were the kids of the boomer generation. And every team had at least 2 legitimate superstars, and many had practically the whole starting lineup. It wasn't just the Lakers and Celtics. Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Houston, Atlanta, Detroit, the Knicks, Washington Bullets, Indiana, Cleveland, Philadelphia, eventually Chicago and San Antonio. Now one of the differences is that there wereabout 8-12 teams that were not in the league yet. So all the teams had legit superstars. And the competition is what elevated players like Magic, Bird, Jordan and others. And the style of ball. If you have heard the term ' no blood, no foul ' truly through the late 90's, there were regular bench clearing and fisticuffs. So this was outside playground type ball, rarely touch fouls. And right or wrong, though there was trash talking, it wasn't done in the way it is today, the Deion Sanders type making sure all the attention is on me. All these stories on Larry Bird and others, the public didn't hear any of these while they played, because there was respect for the game and for the most part respect towards each other. It was typically not done in a way to trash or clown on an opponent publicly. Not just BBALL, But I have seen the greatest golfers, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods, Wayne Gretzky was a magician on ice, but he was a relatively small guy against brutes, seeing the great football teams of the 70's Steelers, the 80'sGiants and 49ers, the 90's Cowboys and the Patriots after the turn of the century. The greatest tennis players and baseball players. And it now appears women's ball and Caitlyn Clark and other young women. But to be honest, they have changed rules in so many sports they are not the same game. And the players wanting all the smoke, but not dedicated like in the past. But it's all good.

To my knowledge, there has never been an NBA player that told his teammates and coaches, as well as the opposing team’s players and coaches, what he was going to do AND THEN actually do it with regularity and consistency…the trash talking seemed like it was more about Larry not being afraid, impressed, or intimidated by any opposing player…he enjoyed being challenged on the court, but Bird always seemed to be playing chess while everyone else was still playing checkers…🎤🔥🦅🦉 eyes like a fierce eagle, wise like an owl…✌️

First off, great reaction. In college Bird averaged 33-13 and 4.5. The thing that the younger people don’t and can’t appreciate about Bird is he could have averaged 50 if he wanted. That’s not what Bird was about. Bird was about winning. If it meant scoring 2 points and having 20 assists and 15 rebounds to get the win that’s what he would do. If I wanted to win games I would take Bird and Kareem over anyone and I mean no disrespect to MJ at all as he is definitely so so great

I liked watching you discover Bird so much, I just came back and watched this vid. again after having seen it when you first posted it. I loved watching it again...and, though, I'm surprised to see you haven't, since then, watched some of the other great Bird vids, like Larry BIrd, Greatest Passer of All Time (re-edit), and 5 Times Larry BIrd was Injured and REFUSED to Quit (or something very close to that title). I'm thinking maybe one of the reasons you moved away from Bird (I know you have lots else to watch, and a ton of other requests) is that you figured you now had some idea of his game. But guess what-- I don't think that's the case. Until, for example, you watch that passing video, you have no idea of his finesse, his creativity, his unselfishness...or the fact that he was playing more than basketball-- he was playing volleyball and football as well (you got a taste of the v-ball with those few touch passes shown in this vid.). Anyway, great reaction-- as much fun to watch the second time as it was the first-- and I hope others chime in to ask you to check out some of the other great Bird footage...and I hope we can persuade you to do it. BTW-- one last thing you may not know-- Bird went through something similar to what Caitlin Clarke is now experiencing. At least, that's how I see it...and I am expecting (and hoping) it ultimately shakes out the same way-- the way it should with every player-- with her ultimately being viewed and evaluated solely on the basis of how she plays the game and how she conducts herself.

Grew up late 70's and 80's and seen that way too much vs. my Bucks, as y'all seen in this vid he scorched us millions of times. 2nd place is the behind the head pass to Parrish for two hand dunk, while under his own basket. re: sportsmanship and trash talk and competition and all that, I know I've heard former players say that about Larry. He would talk mean trash and be a jerk to you on the court, but 99% of the time, it wasn't actually personal or anything. He was just competitive and brutally honest. He might still joke around and make cocky remarks off court, but not with any ill will behind it. He just liked that competitiveness. But you had other people in the 80s like Bill Laimbeer who played dirty, elbowed people in the face, tripped them, and kinda just tried to win games by injuring the stars on the other team. Everybody knew that's what he did, and it's obvious in a lot of the replays, but he would just talk sh** about people accusing him of being a dirty player like they were jealous of him or something but the dude was one of the dirtiest of all time. I don't think Bill Laimbeer's own teammates even liked Bill Laimbeer. Just one of those guys everybody kinda wanted to punch. So when people talked trash about Bill Laimbeer they actually meant it haha. That's at least one I know they meant it. That dude was a grade A a***ole. But usually the trash talk was just competition. Between Larry and Magic, they picked on each other relentlessly, but then they'd go eat dinner at Larry's mom's house.

The difference is back in the '80s. They literally hated each other till their careers were over. Not till the whistle blew or the horn blew. They hated each other every minute of every season until the player retired

Aside from basketball, of which, keep doing the deep dive into the 80's and 90's. You will be surprised. I am recommending some documentary films. 1. Religulous. 2. The King of Kong: A fistful of Quarters 3. Sicko 4. The People vs John Lennon 5. Hot Coffee 6. Capitalism: A Love Story 7. Nintendo Quest 8. Super High Me 9. The Aristocrats 10. Fahrenheit 9/11
