2012 Rafa was crazy until the knee injury. Started strong at the AO where he managed to hold off a peaking Berdych playing the best tennis of his life, then beat Federer in 4 very good sets, but finally lost the 6 hour final to Djokovic. Then he had probably his most dominant clay season outside of the Madrid blue clay stuff, picking up three easy wins over Novak dropping only one set, sweeping his way through Monte Carlo, Rome, Barcelona and RG. He was just barely even being pushed during clay season. No one could touch him. His backhand was aggressive, forehand was on point, athleticism was near peak, and probably his best returning year too.

Rafa the undisputed Goat of Clay . . If he was not out injured in 2023, he'd have given Novak a run for his money and could have won one or two Grand Slams.. If he had he'd be on 24 and if Novak won one he'd be on about 22.. 2023 was bad luck for the Spaniard. I hope he can start winning trophies again in his last year on the tour .Amen

Don't take it bad but at least I feel (in other match with other friend) that once in a lifetime Rafa played not at his best against a friend to help his opponent's carreer. His friend was playing the best tennis of his life but still he needed to win Rafa just for one time to become great and even at his best moment that was almost impossible. And that time Rafa felt rarely uneasy on the tennis court and lost.

Maybe you should stop taking the title seriously and just have a laugh. Obviously Monaco did not end his friendship with Rafa over this, but it’s a brutal match and the title is a funny joke. Basic social cues should tell you this is a tennis video, not a documentary on Nadal’s friendship with Monaco.
