for those who don't know: Diana was abused and abandoned as a child - was MUTE - spent early years in a Russian orphanage - her adoptive Mum provided speech and voice lessons as a way for Diana to overcome her trauma - she is a natural Contralto (the lowest female vocal range) and can sing multiple notes or tones simultaneously I think she's amazing....... .

У этих братьев хорошая музыкальная интуиция. На что они обратили особое внимание? На необычные вокализы у костра, прозвучавшие очень свежо и очень неожиданно для этой песни. Эти вокализы в сочетании с таким феноменальным голосом однозначно выводят данную кавер-версию за рамки поп-музыки - которой она была первоначально. Диана Анкудинова не демонстрацией своей низкой тесситуры занималась, чтобы удивить судей и зрителей. Она в очередной раз показывала своё умение решать сложные художественные, эстетические задачи. Своё умение создавать убедительные и неожиданные образы - не только звуковые, но и визуальные. Продемонстрировать низкую тесситуру можно в шутку - как в песне "Синяя вечность", здесь же была выстроена сложная вокальная партия со сменой регистров и тесситур, с виртуозными переходами. И получился вполне законченный, очень убедительный, очень живой, очень необычный звуковой образ. Закономерно, что у этих двух парней этот образ вызвал совсем не поп-музыкальные ассоциации. "Сырой"; "земной"; "древний"; природный"; и в конце концов: "естественный". Диана Анкудинова в своих лучших выступлениях - а это одно из них - делает намного больше, чем нормальный популярный музыкант - она вызывает у слушателя живые эмоции и эстетические переживания, не связанные непосредственно с музыкой. Вызывает чувства, связанные с чем-то давно забытым, смутно знакомым, чем-то утраченным, но значительным. С чем-то, более ценным, чем просто музыка, с чем-то загадочным, не познаваемым до конца. С чем-то, к чему нам обязательно захочется вернуться ещё не раз...

Diana is not a Soprano. There are three main vocal types in Females from lowest to highest they are Contralto - Mezzo/Soprano - Soprano. In females Soprano is the most common and Contralto is the rarest vocal type on humans in general, even if we include the male vocal types which are Bass - Baritone - Tenor. But Diana's range is so big that she can actually cover the range of all female vocal types, she can even hit notes so high that most Sopranos have difficulty even reaching. She is 20 years old now, Igor Krutoy bought her an apartment in Moscow so that she can attend a prestigious art school, he also offered her a contract but thing did not worked out then so he did not became her producer but Diana said if she gets the chance again in the future she will take it.

I've been using the polyphonic dramatic contralto as an all in one description of her vocal type and ability, but you're right in that she goes out of bounds of normal vocal classifications. There seems to be a dawn of elite vocalists going on where you see people who can't fit in normal classifications. Off the top of my head I remember Diana, ofc, Dimash and Faouzia, who's ranges are way broader than the normal classfications. A few other less famous people also, like a Portuguese guy called Fernando Pereira, who does imitations and used to have residency in Las Vegas. I think it is natural, in the information age the extreme vocalists will get known quicker.

Diana got an apartment in Moscow from the Igor Krutoy foundation, where she still lives with her family till this day. I can't say if she got a scholorship also, but with the amount of shows she does I would guess not, that she lives from her work. But he was instrumental in getting her to Gitis, which is a presitigious state run art school in Moscow where she is finishing her studies.

Unfortunately, Igor Krutoy is Ukranian, makimg collaboration with Diana Ankudinova difficult these past 2 years. But it does not seem to have affected her abilities much, as her range has broadened markedly, while her voice remains as unique as ever. Thanks for your reaction. 👍

I don't think Igor's nationality has anything to do with it. I believe Igor wanted to work with Diana after her sensational performances in _You are Super_ , but she declined to sign any contracts. I think that when that fell through Igor himself immediately helped set up the alternative connection with Brandon Stone that beginning two years before the start of the SMO, has worked so well these past four years.

DIana is 20 now. Igor Krutoy had helped her a year before this 2019 performance, when, after she had won 2018 _You are Super_ , he had bought her an apartment in Moscow so that she could study there at an elite music school. In the final of that 2018 competition he had accompanied her on piano when she performed "Tomorrow is a Lie," a song that he himself had composed for Lara Fabien.
