Ambrosia, like Toto, is a PROG ROCK band with an R&B side...check out their 1982 album "Road Island" for proof...it's got a cover like The Wall by Pink Floyd & has a hard edged prog sound & songs not unlike the knotty proggy side of Rush or Dream Theatre...

Ambrosia, Poco, Firefall, Exile, Seals& Croft, so many "Adult Contemporary" bands that blasted the charts in the 70's. Add international bands like Air Supply and Little River Band (among others) that made just perfect Soft Rock music back then, and it was just wonderful!

If you love Ambrosia, try Little River Band. Both great 1970s soft rock bands. “Reminiscing” was a big hit. They had several, including a great rock tune. Having a hard time thinking of it with this classic song playing right now. This is my favorite Ambrosia song. I was in junior high when it came out. Okay. Remembered other hits: “Cool Change,” “Lady,” and the rock song is “Lonesome Loser”. I recommend the original hit versions.

Ambrosia was so amazing back in the day. There songs were played by local bands always! One of their hit songs called “I keep holding on to yesterday” KEPT me in a 4 year relationship even though we were stagnated, becoming more like siblings than a couple committed to a life together. We both knew it, but too familiar to part…I’d make up my mind and be determined to end it, But every time I was determined to really end it(!!), this song would pull me back. We had so many wonderful memories but you cannot move forward living in the past. When that song finally fell off the charts, I was able to move on. Carl never did marry. He is the perpetual “uncle Carl” and a friend after all these years. Funny how music effects us.👍

I love how you tell us at the end of each video that we are always blessed. I believe that as well. That's why I call this my "God" song. I relate the lyrics to what God might say to me and what I may say to Him. Because He IS the biggest part of me, and I know that anything I ask (humbly) he will give if it's His will for me. I know He wants to let His "love reign down on me" and we CAN wash away the past and so that WE may start anew. I want His love beside me...close enough to guide me..He's the light that breathes in me...He changed my life, He made it right and I WILL be a servant to HIM for the rest of my life!!!

So glad you did Ambrosia - they were giants of the mid/late 70's - you know a band is the real deal when their concerts sound as good, or better than the studio release - Ambrosia is on this level (watch the live performance of this song). They are a hybrid of all styles really - I'd say they were the start of soft rock/R&B transforming into smooth jazz (adult contemporary) - just loaded with songwriting talent!

Aaaaahhh.....the smooth sounds of the 70's. I still remember all the words to this song and I was less than 10 when all their songs came out. Good stuff just sticks with you. David Pack's great voice and the beautiful harmonies. As others said, your next Ambrosia song when you are in that 70's mood should be "You're the Only Woman." David Pack did continue on writing songs for others too. I suggest you try the song he co-wrote with the great writer/producer Glenn Ballard (who helped write/produce Alanis Morisette's "Jagged Little Pill" album) called "All I Need" by singer/actor Jack Wagner. I was so shocked when I found out they wrote this song. It was a huuuuge smash around 1984 by the actor who played Frisco Jones on General Hospital....your mom might remember him, Amber. Huge heart throb!!!

Some of the best harmony and vocals of any band! Quintessential Yacht Rock! David Pack’s voice is perfection! Amazing for a guy who since 1977 has been fully deaf in one ear.

I really want to know who coined the term "Yacht Rock" because we sure as heck didn't call it that back in the day. To us, it was "Soft Rock".

@@michlkwitz young folks say it’s the music that upper class people play on their yachts (back in the day or now or both?) ,but I guess they don’t know they played it and still play it everywhere!

I just love how you two love the 70's music. That was by far the best decade of music in my opinion. You both have good taste. ;-)

My wife and I always wait to hear your "Not one, not two, but three videos per day." I am probably one of your older listeners at 75. Your station is a part of our daily lives. An artist I wish you would play is Nancy Wilson. She is a supper club, jazz artist who has a incredible way of delivering a vocal. Please consider playing one of her many outstanding songs...I don't believe you will be disappointed.

Whaaaaaat?! 😯 Finally one that I've been suggesting regularly since Amber joined the channel! I absolutely love this song, it's my favorite by Ambrosia! Such a romantic song that I have slow danced to many, many times. After I played for my boyfriend for the first time, he wanted it on repeat a lot. Ah, those romantic nights. 😊😄 The inspirational/gospel group Take 6, made a beautiful version of their own with the lyrics slightly changed to praise God as the biggest part of them. More by Ambrosia.... "You're the Only Woman" "How Much I Feel" "Nice, Nice, Very Nice" "Holding On to Yesterday" Also, will you give Canadian singer Gino Vanelli a try? I've suggested him forever, too. "I Just Wanna Stop" "Living Inside Myself" "The River Must Flow" "Gimmie Back My Life" "People Gotta Move"

I have Sirius radio in the car. My wife always harassed me about it until I played the Yacht Rock station for her. Now she listens to that station all the time. So we’ve been listening to a LOT of this group. Can’t go wrong, guys. This was some serious slow dancing music back in the days… (God, I’m getting old.)
