I swear, everyone was telling me to practice and study forms and shit but *you* were the reason i understood *why* i need to do it and i really started painting regularely So I really think you are with this honesty the best teacher for art i've seen so far(and i watch a lot of art-tubers). I mean your jokes make me laugh all the time every time but in every joke there's like a little hint at what you're supposed to do and what you're doing wrong. I'm sure you get this a lot but i'm so thankfull and i keep binge watching your Videos even tho i already heard every joke at least 3 times and usually get bored really quick. I was starting to get headaches trying to understand the anatomy and all the complex stuff. It was so stressful that i just lost hope. But this guy just helped me with all his jokes and straightforward knowledges to overcome my struggles. Found this from a video I saw on Pinterest while I was looking through art. Amazing video 👍 really helped.

If you think you’re too busy the practice art, or you get frustrated w slow progress, here’s a tactic I’ve been using to great success. Trace the head you need to learn, then on a short work break - just mindlessly keep going over the same lines. I’ve been doing this in meetings and while I listen to KZfaq videos as part of work research - and I find that my hands tend to “learn” what it feels like to draw the head. Later when I finally do have a little bit of time to myself, albeit, not much, I get to sit down and practice what my hands have been learning - and let me tell you, it makes a HUGE difference! I noticed a change in my ability after just one day of doodling. Now I take 5 minute work breaks to trace over large-scale heads that I’ve used a projector to sketch accurately onto a page from an XL sketchbook. Even just having my practice sketches taped up in my bedroom helps me “assimilate” the information. I never thought I could do this kind of stuff because it’s too time consuming and I get way too into it - but I have to work. So since I started doing this, I’ve actually been able to learn all sorts of things like hands and face angles. The best part is that I don’t have to feel frustrated about not being able to draw something. I’m just tracing. It’s relaxing, easy, and fun, and it seems to give my brain an intuitive understanding of mechanics and proportion, and my hands - the skill to implement those things. But you should watch some of Angels other videos where he talks about how to make proper lines and so forth. The idea is to keep drawing the thing correctly - over, and over, and over again. Just for the sake of it. PS: I think if you don’t watch Angel’s videos regularly you’re still going to suck. I put them on every night, and it’s the knowledge I get that lets me practice like this in a way that actually improves my ability.

I'm going straight to step 1 because, regardless how many tutorials I followed, how many attempts I made, the books I read, I still feel lost when I have to block and shade a portrait.
