Headed to Laconia Bikeweek 2024!!

After a couple of weeks home doing a lot of work, it's time to hit the road again.
This time we are heading to the northeast.
The laconia bikeweek starts in a few days and it's a logn drive to New England.
just like last year, we decided to do a majority of the drive overnight that way there's less traffic to deal with on the steep Mountain grades. We will likely do the same in the northeast to avoid the traffic through Connecticut.

Don't know when you plan on coming through CT but if your going to be coming through tomorrow 6/5/2024 and if your traveling I-84 in the Southington to Hartford area it is going to be shut down around 9:35am for a couple of hours more than likely for procession. A Connecticut State Trooper was struck and killed by a passing vehicle while on a traffic stop so just figured I'd pass the info along to you.

Boy I thought of you guys, if it were on your way and or you had time, there’s a massive world famous Keystone Truck & Tractor Museum in Colonial Heights, VA easy access off I-95, you would love! Maybe you’ve already been there. It’s a must see.

While riding the Blue Ridge Parkway on two wheels, my wife and I have camped at the Blue Ridge campground motorcycle only near Canton a few times. No better ride that the parkway on a motorcycle. We have covered every mile of the parkway and some of it several times all the way to Pennsylvania where it ends. Many stories with all those rides.

Yes, one of my most enjoyable rides, I took a few days by myself and wrote from Central New York State, where my family lives to Western New York State to visit with a friend and then down through the Allegheny Forest and Pennsylvania, and then picked up Drive in the Shenandoah national Park starting at front Royal Virginia And that eventually becomes the Blue Ridge Parkway about 100 miles further south.

Brilliant video trucks in the UK can only drive 4 and half hours then 45 minutes break then another 4and half hours then park up for about minimum of 8 hours with a tachometer in the cab 👍👍

The hours of service rules here are pretty strict as well. Luckily because I am privately owned I don’t have to follow those rules. I can drive whenever I want.

What a coincidence, we are heading to Cherokee June 22nd for a couple of days and from there to Boone June 25th. You drove the route till Statesville / I77 intersection that we will take. Wife does her first long distance ride on her snowmobile Spyder RTS . We will most likely take Hwy 74 to avoid those steep grades around Maggie Valley Hwy 19. Good to see you guys back on the road, again. Safe travels and hopefully great weather with prosperous business.

I don’t need gentry to set my Jake brakes. I did my overhead myself. The problem is that I have a three stage Jake break and the first stage is not installed because the embossment in the cylinder head that it bolts down to our broken out. I cannot physically mount it. This leaves me with only two stages of Jake break.

Thanks for the ride Adam. Question, Is there an advantage (driving Goliath w/trailer) taking I-40 to I-77 to I-81 as opposed to I-40 to I-26 to I-81? Just curious. Figured the later route would be shorter.

I 26 north from Asheville to Johnson City would probably be faster but is a much steeper incline and a longer downhill run. I’ve always been a little nervous to try it because I’m not happy with the hold back power the goliath has.

What’s the difference between an exhaust brake and a Jake brake? I thought they were same thing just some people called different names. Thanks bud take care and stay safe.

Jake break is a dynamic system where a valve actuation system holds the exhaust valve open for a moment so that the combustion forces escape through the exhaust instead of pushing the piston down to make power and exhaust break is in line in the exhaust pipe itself and simply a valve that closes to create Back pressure in the air system creating resistance

Richard, I know it sounds like a good idea. It just isn’t a practical one. I recorded with my phone and not a dedicated camera so I cannot have a microphone attached all the time and still be able to put my phone in my pocket and move it around and do all the things that I need to do. The microphone plugs into the charging port so then I wouldn’t be able to charge my phone while I was driving down the road either.
