twas a hickory shad @11:50 lower jaw sticking out further than upper is probably the easiest way to tell.

Use to catch shad on Delawawre. Great fight on light tackle!

Hickory. American are also called White shad b/ k they really are white- the Hickory have that purple sheen and that black dot. The mouth also. Lots of American shad on the upper DE river. That would be closer to CT. They can be big!

I know a certain philly resident who knows about all the species haha. I been on the lmb pretty good in the Neshaminy but ponds have been tough. Theres some great fishing now just have to figure them out. Hope to see some more “southern” adventures.

If the mouth is superior, meaning when closed the bottom jaw/lip protrudes anterior to the top jaw(underbite) then it is a Hickory. From the frames in the video it looked like a hickory.
