After many years of successfully using the SDC, I just started using the (awkward, original) headphones. Big difference. The oh so subtle threshold breaks were much deeper targets that I had (likely) been overlooking for a long time. Slow swinging - as you say, Gary - is key. I will do the overlap as you suggest and I thank you for all your efforts over the years.

I use pointed barbecue skewers colored red with magic marker. Costs about 2 bucks for ~2 dozen. Pretty effective as the SDC routinely detects 6 to 10 targets within 10/15 minutes of swinging. Doing all the digging at one time can save on the battery as it can be turned off going from target to target.

Wow, I didn't realize that the detector detected a smaller area at depth. I thought it just got weaker. So it's kind of an inverted cone of detection it sounds like. Interesting. Thank you for your videos. Always fun to watch.

Things came to a halt when I went fishing for 6 weeks, and I just got home from a long tip out to Nebraska to visit the grandkids. I plan to get back on it in the next week or so. If we can get a pair of headphones that work good, I will put out a video.

1. Why the 2300 and not a 6000? Smaller head? Easier to transport? What? 2. What do you need in hardware to use the headphones with a mic? 3. Couldn't you wire up a cordless system? Or is there a problem with cordless conversion?

The 2300 folds up and be put in a backpack for the long hikes. Have to get an adaptor. I had the cordless system, did not like it, it has a bit of a delay, and the battery does not last long enough. it now lives in a drawer.
