Agree. Now that my 718 is going to be tucked away for the Winter, I want to try a set of LED bulbs specifically designed to replaced HID. Im going to try another method, which someone in 718 forum recommended and it involves removing the wheel well cover. That gives you access to the rear of the headlight without having to remove the headlight. I’ll document that in a different video and offer my comments/comparison between procedures. Still, it will not be as easy as in a Macan or 981.

That's why porshce is ridiculous. Might as well buy a ferrari or lambo if you want complicated steps to work on a car.

@@Nobody-dc8dp is all about the driving experience. These are DIYs that I choose to do… and I enjoy them as much as I enjoy the ride…. Many car manufacturers are implementing more and more systems that make DIYs more difficult, so is not isolated to Porsche. Coming back to headlight bulbs, I just published another video in which I access the bulbs through the wheel well. Much easier than the procedure portrayed here.

@@Nobody-dc8dp Aston Martin is even worse than all of those! AND they won't let you buy most parts from them. Porsche, on the other hand, will sell you almost every part they have, at a great price, too.

Thanks for your comment… much easier to change through wheel well. I didn’t find out until after I replaced these. @@porscheDIY Yes I have a 718 BS now , everything is more time consuming than the 987. I pulled the bumper cover off to clean the front radiators last fall and it was a half day job compared to a couple of hours on the 987. Even replacing the air filter takes longer as accessing some of the screws for the engine cover now means removing the carpeting and speakers behind the seats. I don't look forward to when I need to replace the water pump at all. Keep up the good work!

Haha, yes! But there is an easier method which I demonstrate in a subsequent video, when I went from HID to LED bulb, going through the wheel well (back side of the headlight). Then you don’t have to remove the headlight. Saves about 3 hours of work.
