Among the succession of visitors David had invited to a rented warehouse in Bridlington, to preview his recently completed Bigger Trees near Warter before its official unveiling at The Royal Academy’s 2007 Summer Show, were four headmistresses from his home town of Bradford. Yes, David is not good at replying to emails. He also claims his loss of hearing particularly affects the upper registers, making it more difficult to understand female voices. He was amused to be receiving four primary school headmistresses, and seemed to get what they were saying.
