Love your channel folks!! I drove out from BC ( 5 days there, 5 days back ) 3rd week in April to buy a home. Didn't realize how crazy the market is there!! I got lucky that someone else's financing fell thru. Only reason that I actually got a chance to view was that I drove from BC to personally view and had cash or I may have come back to BC homeless as I had already sold my home in BC. Found the perfect house with a bit of land. We take possession in July ( seems so far away, lol ). Family is so excited to get away from the craziness here in the BC lower mainland and back to a slower pace, even our small town now has traffic jams and they are building hundreds more townhouse complexes. Watched your channel a lot before deciding to make the move, great info and unbiased opinions. You guys are going to do well and all the best to you and a big thank you!!

Hello, I am currently in Edmonton Alberta , been here 14 years , only thing I can say is it gave me 2 children ☺️, but I am taking my kids and moving to new Brunswick in July. Cannot wait. Health care is important but it has issues in every province, and I currently do not have a family doctor and haven't for a few years. See in edmonton they have medical clinics everywhere so you can go see a doc but they are not your family doctor and to get one it takes a while here too. Anyway just wanted to share. Love your videos , can't wait to be back in my home town, Westside all day everyday . If ya know ya know ☺️ Westside of Saint john that is for the people who don't

@@dmphax ya same with out here , my son who is just a year old now has to wait 4 months to see his doctor so I have to bring him to the Medi center. Life is hard no.matter where you are, but it can be better living in a beautiful place , I really took for granted new Brunswick, I've been stuck in my house since October because of winter here in Edmonton, and when the warm weather Comes everything cost money , the mountains are 4 hours away and there's not alot to do here that doesn't cost money. Can't wait to be able to go to the each for free and go beach combing , and where I live even the outdoor parks cost money it's crazy. Of course not all parks in Edmonton are like that but where I live right now they are gated so only people who pay can use and it's 600 a year. Anyways ya can't wait to be home .

Leaving Edmonton this Sunday to finally move back home to NB, Kingston Penninsula specifically. Cannot wait until Edmonton is in our rear view mirror. I feel as though all of the people who are complaining haven't been back to NB since the 90s or have never left and do not appreciate what they have. I can't speak for Saint John's hospitals, but the hospital up in Moncton is beyond third world in terms of quality. Had the misfortune of taking a relative there after midnight when an injury started to act up and we sat in emergency for hours before being told to go home. It didn't seem like there were any staff present other than 1-2 nurses. A complete embarrassment and shit show. There were 6-7 other people in emerg and only one got seen before we ended up leaving. I've heard similar stories from Fredericton. The healthcare in most parts of Canada is a national disgrace.

Hello and thank you for these wonderful posts. Have you done a video on costs of owning a home in New Brunswick. Just basic like, is there a home owners grant that if you live in the home you get to claim each year? Costs of internet, home phone (I still have one for safety reasons due to the young people who live with me) heat, hydro, car insurance…just going over basics that come around yearly or monthly. Cheers

Hi Suzanna, welcome to our channel. As realtors, we have extensively covered pretty much everything to do with home ownership. With over 180 videos posted to our channel, you may have to do a KZfaq search to find specifics. We talk about property taxes a lot as well as heating costs, because there are specific differences here vs other provinces. Car insurance here tends to cost less than other provinces (fewer cars on the road and more polite drivers means fewer claims to pay out). Phone/Internet/cable are pretty much similar here to everywhere. We have Bell and Rogers, not Telus. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to contact us at 506-607-3095 or welovesaintjohn@royallepage.ca

We have been here two years and still no family doctor. That said I had an issue and went to emergency, and the doctor there referred me to a specialist, who now is helping me going forward. I'm sure we have waited longer than usual due to the pandemic for a family doctor. As far as taxes are concerned, the only thing you have to keep in mind, is that if you pay a lot more than the current assessed property value when you buy, you will see a pretty big jump in the bill the year after you purchase. Also, if you buy a property that is a duplex and and the current owner lives elsewhere and rents it out, the taxes are higher than if the person who own it has it as a primary residence. This means that if you are going to live there, you will have to swear an affidavit with service New Brunswick stating it is a primary residence ( owner occupied). Note: the year you purchase you will pay the current tax rate, through the current tax year with the closing costs. The air in Moncton, is much nicer....lol In closing, all things considered, we love living in New Brunswick and are glad we moved here.

Hi Les, I noticed at about 17:28 that the speed limit is 110 km/hr compared to the vast majority of highways in Ontario that run at 100 km/hr except for some very recent pilot projects that have run at 110 km/hr. Are all major highways that you have traveled in NB posted at 110 km/hr?
@WeLoveSaintJohn
@WeLoveSaintJohn 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Michael. Yes, the 4 lane highways are 110 km/hr, while most of the 2 lane highways are 100. Most of the country roads are 80 or 90, even in places where you might expect them to be 60. And there is never much traffic except in construction zones. The highway system here is really good. Some of the less used roads can get lots of potholes.

So I've been stalking this channel for awhile without ever commenting. Just felt I would comment about the healthcare part of this video. As a life long New Brunswicker with many experiences with the NB health system over the years I would say the main complaint about the health system for many New Brunswicker's here is not so much family doctors (I've heard some complaints but most people here I know have either a doctor or nurse practitioner), but instead with emergency room wait times. This is particularly frequent in the Fredericton area. (Saint John and Moncton are not as bad), but the DECH in Fredericton is notorious for extremely long wait times if you have an emergency which I have had the unfortunate displeasure of experiencing up to 21+ hours during visits. And some people choose to go to Oromocto instead in the past. (Although, I have heard stories like this from other provinces so not sure how specific this is to NB) This has been like this for a very long time... rural areas also have some similar issues with service levels at local hospitals, or sometimes ambulance availability and wait times. These are really toxic issues, which often have as much to do with the maybe less spoken of staffing/language politics than actual staffing... the privatization of the ambulance services has also been a fiasco with Medavie often not staffing enough people to try to maximize profits.
@WeLoveSaintJohn
@WeLoveSaintJohn 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for stalking. Since healthcare is funded by taxes and nobody likes paying more taxes, we will always struggle in this country. The ongoing narrative that NB is worse than other provinces is just patently false. That's the only point we were trying to make.

Hi there. I am originally from NB, but I'm thinking of heading back down East. I live in Abbotsford BC and have done so for 28 years. I had two questions: 1. Is it still smelly in St. John? As a kid, there was a pulp mill there that smelled really bad. While beautiful, that stink made me want to leave. Is it still running? 2. Is it foggy alot? My mother said as a young woman, that whenever she went to St John, it was foggy. What has been your experience?
@WeLoveSaintJohn
@WeLoveSaintJohn 2 жыл бұрын
There is still a pulp mill. 99% f the time we don't even know it's there. Anytime you're on an ocean, you will get some fog. I have no idea why people have a problem with that. Having spent my first 50 years living in and around Abbotsford, and knowing what that city has gone through in just the last year, I'll take the pulp mill and a little fog anytime.
@gaild.9311
@gaild.9311 2 жыл бұрын
@@WeLoveSaintJohn To be fair, I think this needs some balance. The pulp mill although not as bad as years past definitely can still smell. I drive west at least twice a week and almost always there is a strong smell in the Reversing Falls and Fairville area. You can smell the Oil Refinery (Canada's largest oil refinery) and Marine Oil Terminal in a large part of the East side. I had to move out of this area on the advice of my doctor because of major health problems due to the pollution. I know that a lot of other people have had to do the same thing. Yes we do get a fair amount of fog, but I happen to love it.
@WeLoveSaintJohn
@WeLoveSaintJohn 2 жыл бұрын
@@gaild.9311 Hi Gail, thanks for the comment. I agree this needs some balance. The OP here lives in Abbotsford BC, which is where we moved from, a city where the average price of a home is well over a million dollars and a city which has been devastated over the last year by heat domes, incredible flooding, wildfire smoke that turned day into night, and that's on top of the normal pollution, crime and congestion that they deal with permanently. A person needs to know what day to day life is like in that area before they can judge this city by comparison. We agree with you that we love the fog, and we don't understand why people would choose to live in the shadows of the refinery and then complain about it. As far as the pulp mill, we have lived on the west side for 4 years and barely ever notice it. When we do, its not a strong smell, but noticeable. The vast majority of the time all we smell are fresh ocean breezes.
