Edward, a hearing impaired man was on The Price is Right (May 20, 2013)
Note: I recorded this video and I then realized that it would need captions for those who are hearing impaired. (You can not always see what the person is saying on screen). One hour later, the captions were finished

What i have also seen with Drew with the other clips of hearing impaired players is that he is always looking at the player and acknowledging him as well as making sure the player can read his lips.

I think if I were in the showcase showdown I wouldn't be able to handle people screaming random bins all at once. Edward is/was a lucky man to be able to not deal with that.

One of the few shows that people like Edward can be on and still play the games do to the simplest ways of the games that really haven't changed over the years. Been updated a little but have stayed the same. Of the games Plinko seems to be the one game that a wheelchair bound person wouldn't be able to play do to the steps. All the others they could.

Yes that's true but the bottom line is though what I see in all these things it's not just to death that want to play these games on The Price is Right it's also the blind. And besides that with a person like me who's that time to go on a game show like that to play the game and not see what's there. Basically that would be difficult for a person like myself. But the bottom line is so as far as one away I can see the numbers. The same with the money game any number and a few other games. Just as long as they have numbers that I can see. But that's going to be kind of hard for somebody who can't see at all. But still I can't figure out is that when a handicap person tries to either win a new car or some money how are they going to be able to pay the taxes. That's right how are they going to be able to pay the taxes? Because with the cash I can tell you this much right now if it's over $10,000 that's great but after the IRS gets through that's it. However there are other people who will know about the money. I e the social security department or the social security administration. If they found out a handicapped person got on a game show and one money like that they will be immediately cut off of social security and they will not be reapplying for social security anymore after that. Because once they're cut off that's it their checks stop. And that's got so many people were handicapped concerned about it. But it may not matter anyway. Because basically after they get through paying the IRS the money they can put the money in the bank while they're being cut off of social security. Because they're going to be made to pay the money back to social security.

I hope Drew has learned how to position an interpreter properly since this aired. I know he has to focus on TV shots but the interpreter went to the correct spot. The idea is for Drew and the contestant to look at each other face to face. I cringed when Drew redirected the interpreter to the wrong place.

When my mother was a teacher at Georgia School For Deaf. The high school teachers had to learn a new form of sign language called SEE instead of ASL. So when my mother adopted me she taught me SEE, but when she retired in 1996, she went back using ASL. Now my mother is trying very hard to get me to use ASL. But, I grew up using SEE sign language and I love it and it is hard for me to change. Is there any one out there hearing or deaf that uses SEE or do most of you use ASL, I am just curious.

DEAF is the correct, accepted, appreciated term, to many in the Deaf community, not "hearing impaired", thanks. Besides which, some American states have changed the wording in many of their statutes and regulations to omit the phrase "hearing impaired".

Hi! I was wondering if you could adjust the name of your video to say Deaf not Hearing Impaired. The latter is considered insulting by the Deaf community and as that man is a Deaf West actor I know he is a Culturally Deaf man and would not appreciate being called Hearing Impaired.

+MyPersonalVendetta why is asking that people be polite and call groups by their chosen moniker being "sensitive". Don't you correct people if they mispronounce or misspell your name? Deaf people are Deaf not "hearing impaired".

+MyPersonalVendetta I am not telling the owner of the video to change the title because it might offend someone. I am asking politely that the correct terminology for a people be used. If the title said "Negro man wins the Price is Right" the black community would be up in arms. All I am trying to do is educate people about Deaf Rights and Deaf Culture.

Why is it that deaf people are unable to speak? Not being rude or anything, it's just something I never understood.
@Mark-yn4vl
@Mark-yn4vl 6 жыл бұрын
Those with hearing loss later in life can usually still speak fairly well, albeit they sound different. The ones that were born deaf have it a bit harder because they have no way to hear how the letters, vowels and such that form a word are supposed to sound, and they can't hear themselves speaking it either. You might not realize it, but your brain is constantly listening to you when you talk, and modifies your volume, tone of voice, inflections and so on based on that. Some deaf people can speak a little, some have learned to speak fairly well.

Some deaf people can speak well. Others can speak a bit. Some can't speak st al. It's hard to learn how to speak when you can't hear. Many sounds are made using parts of thr mouth that aren't visible to the outside. Some deaf people can speak but are insecure about how they sound or just prefer to sign because it's more comfortable or convenient.

I'm glad that he was able to participate as well but see here's the problem now that he is 12,500 in cash here's my problem with that. Since she is on social security he's not supposed to have over $2,000 in the bank. Which means they will reduce his social security check. That's right anybody who wins money over $2,000 from a game show if they are on social security or even if they win $10,000 and are still on social security they will be cut off. That's right these people who are deaf or blind or whatever if they're on social security and they win money through a game show or a casino or even a lottery they will be immediately cut off of social security. That means their checks will stop. And these people will have to resort to other ways of getting money. That's the way I know about it. Because I'm on social security and I know these things are going on. So it's not just to death it's also the blind.
