"Sensual" is a great choice of words, especially for the two guitars at 13:30 when one is descending in pitch as the other one is rising in pitch to intertwine their tones together.

The lyrics in this song are so funny to me because it's so relatable to being young. "You don't understand mama, he's a Magic Man!" That's how everyone thinks about the first time they fall in love when you're young. It's the epitome of "Love is Blind" lol.

This is one of my favorite songs of all time. When I was a kid in the 70s this song actually scared me. It has a very ominous feel to it and obviously as a young child I had no idea what she was talking about, so I thought it was about some evil wizard or something casting spells on people. Needless to say it made a real impact on me at an early age and I have been drawn to this song ever since.
@thoronthol1175
@thoronthol1175 3 жыл бұрын
I think it actually IS about an evil magician casting a spell on her :) I love it too, and have a similar experience of it being a bit of a dark song from childhood. Kind of like David Bowie’s Space Oddity (dating myself here).. that song made me cry every time as a little kid.. but I loved it. Or, Hotel California, same thing.
@patrickupstream84

Spot on. This is a story about a teen girl who gets infatuated with an older man who has other intentions. "Come on home girl, he said with a smile. You don't have to love me but let's get high a while...." The guitar sustained notes and the solo itself sets the ominous tone throughout the song. Well constructed song that tells a story.

@kdm71291
@kdm71291 3 жыл бұрын
This was written by Ann Wilson from her own experience with being drawn by a man in the band that became Heart, when they were trying to break in...for her singing ability. They were a little north of the border in Canada at the time.....but it quickly got to the point when Ann wouldn't stay unless they included her little sister Nancy to sing and play backup. They later moved the band to Seattle, where the sisters are from and from where Heart came to be known. This is more of a magical song of romantic seduction.....and that's what it is meant to be. Of course, there's much more to their story than that, but there's your watered down version.

That synthesiser is called a Moog (or specifically a Minimoog) and it was pretty big in the 1970s but was invented in the 1960s. Heart definitely does great at capturing that kind of deep feeling; not just romance, but introspection and nostalgia as well. "Dog and Butterfly" is a brilliant tune, and very distinctive even within their own body of work; and just wonderfully captures that sort of introspective look back at childhood and growth.

@@tallykev6608 I know, right? Nothing about this seems Disney... Disney is cheesy... these songs are at least deep, not crappy consumer BS. Have always loved 70's Heart. George it's interesting that you heard a Southern Rock vibe, I've always thought it had a deep funk to it especially when the hand percussion comes in. Glad you enjoyed it, the Wilson sisters poured everything into their music and their band was highly underrated.
