I've lost track how many times I've seen the performance. The word phenomenal comes to mind. Heart are a great band in their own right and have covered some Zeppelin songs in their own set. Zeppelin has got to be one of my top bands of all time, and I go back 40 years. The choirs, the strings, the horns, the vocal, the guitars, the drums, simply one of the best tributes I've seen.

This is Kennedy Center Honors 2012, Led Zeppelin honored. The drummer is Jason Bonham (drummer with Led Zeppelin for Celebration Day concert) and he is John Bonham's son. John Bonham wore a derby quite often so all the derbys are a tip to him. Obama and his cabinet are present along with multiple personalities. Also, Bonnie Raitt is seen near the end with fist in the air. Oh, that is David Letterman (also honored in 2012) to Jimmy's left.

Every year in Washington DC, the Kennedy Center honors a group of artists including musicians and actors. In 2012, Led Zeppelin was honored along with Buddy Guy and other artists. I don't know if you know who David Letterman is, but he was also honored that night, and he's sitting right beside Jimmy Page in the audience. In this same show, there was an awesome rendition of "Whole Lotta Love" by Lenny Kravitz and a great one of "I'd Rather Go Blind" for Buddy Guy performed by Beth Hart with Jeff Beck on guitar. In fact, there are alot of great Kennedy Center performances that you wouldn't hurt yourself by watching. One that comes to mind right away is Steven Tyler's performance in honor of Paul McCartney.

I love how Ann and Nancy were rocking it out front during the guitar solo. I also liked how Jason’s drumming was a highlight during the guitar solo and the throughout the performance. It’s amazing to watch a performance of Stairway to Heaven that includes a conductor. After watching this a few times I noticed him bottom left and it just hit me as an example of the complexity of how the put this together.

The first time to watch this....I would love to have videoed my reaction. I think I was mesmerized/stunned/tearful/high I would doubt I was able to speak. I've watched it multiple times a day since I found it a month ago. A spiritual experience without a shadow.

It was the Kennedy Center Honors, a yearly ceremony honoring 5 or 6 people or groups who have made a significant contribution to the Arts. The sitting President normally attends and it’s a big deal. This was in 2012.

The standing ovation they got from the 3 surviving members and audience was the only one given to any band all night. They were being honored for Led Zeppelin's contributions to music. The drummer is Jason Bonham John Bonham son. The bowler hats were to honor John Bonham. Robert Plant says this is the best cover of Stairway he's heard.. They did this in front of their idols as teenagers. I believe it's from 2012.
