I never smoked marijuana or had any form of it in my adult life and at age 55 , my Mother died of cancer in 2013 . Marijuana was the only herbal medicine that helped me through many difficult days. I used it at bedtime to help me relax and I worked full time as a nurse in the daytime with no side effects. I was calm at home and able to grieve without making me sick or crying constantly.

I stopped smoking cannabis over ten years ago. Wanting to be a positive role model in my children’s lives. I’m a disabled veteran and was dealing with the VA and their pharmaceutical medicines. Over a six month period I dropped a 65lbs and not by trying. Being rushed to the hospital three different times because I’d collapse due to lack of nutrition and being so badly dehydrated. Every test you could think of for a man in his 50’s. They found nothing. Actually my heart, blood pressure and bloodwork are immaculate. When I was not smoking cannabis I had high blood pressure. Found it extremely difficult to lose weight. I was always told my blood pressure was so bad I was looking at a stroke or heart attack. I think I’ll just stick to the natural plant. The past 30 years the medical field has really lost my respect

Be glad you don't get the paranoia. My first 5 or 6 times were amazing...just phenomenal with absolutely no paranoia. I had never heard of weed causing paranoia at that time. But then unexpectedly after smoking a joint I thought I was having a heart attack and had all the typical paranoia reactions that everyone has heard of...and that was just some Mexican brick weed back in 2001. Ever since then I get a different high from weed. Unless I am smoking a ton of weed all the time where my tolerance is high, I've always had an unusually low tolerance for weed since then as well. Even if I take an extremely small single hit, and blow it out immediately, I will still get full fledged paranoia at times.

@Noah Wolf I believe I probably have something like ADHD or autism, but definitely not the hyperactive kind. I've always had attention problems since a young child and I still have them to this day, and it continues to negatively effect my life at age 36. I have a hard time adapting to new situations where I am forced to make things work in a new situation, I always forget something critical. I also have always had problems getting things backwards or mixed up with verbal instructions, if it's not fairly simple. In school I absolutely struggled with Math but I was decent at most other things not related to Math. All that said, I don't know if I want to get properly diagnosed or try medication. I went through a brief phase in my younger life where I was doing crystal meth here and there (I know, very stupid) and I had a *_really_* bad reaction to it in one particular instance where I thought I was having a stroke/heart attack, felt like I was about to die any second. When I came out of it, felt like it caused some brain damage as well, but the hazy/cloudy brain fog I had for about a year afterward has thankfully passed. After that I can barely drink coffee or use any form of caffeine without getting a weird reaction to it that I never used to get. I don't even want to think about what other stimulant drugs would do. But weed has always given me paranoid reactions long before I was doing meth, and afterward nothing changed at all.

I'm Dutch. I worked in Coffeeshops, I smoked in Coffeeshops. I Started smoking all kinds of Cannabis and Hasisch at the Age of 14. Each Day, Day in Day out. I continued that habit till approx 45 Years old. At 50 years old I had a major Heart Attack! The doctors brought me back like 3 times in the helicopter... the tobacco along with weed caused major damage in my body. For children it has negative influence on brain developing. I dropped school because of that. Believe me. My best smoking buddy from the old days still smokes afer 45 years, he has a pacemaker implemented now. What do I want to say here? Just do not consume too much! Some day it will take you down.

I first smoked pot at 18. I'm now 70, and still smoke, though not as much as I used to. Very little alcohol. I've never had a cardiac episode nor do I know anyone that has experienced one related to pot. I had a good career as an RN for 27 years. That's where I got all my hemostats from. I use a pulse oximeter occasionally when I smoke. I've never had a drop or increase in heart rate, and my O2 levels never change. I also grow my own, so I know it's not adulterated. Happy trails.

I was a pothead for many years before it was legalized for medical use. I hadn't smoked for about 25 years. When anti inflammatory meds quit working, I got a medical card and found a dispensary. The employees spend a great deal of time answering your questions to assure you find the best product for your needs. I have tried CBD in the past with little result, but these are far superior products. I take gummies, but I also do the buds. Not all day or everyday. But it helps me deal with my hip and knee pain, and since I knew what Indica and Sativa, thanks to the staff, I was able to try several different strands in joint form, and see which I preferred. They always address my concerns and answer my questions.

I keep a journal of what blends of terpenes/ cannabis and quantities used in the blends that I need . i.e. Back spasms-Mercene Anti inflammation-Caryophyllene Etc…. @Mathias you are actually wrong. It does not CAUSE those episodes. I know me and my brother deal with this as we smoke every day. It is an exasserbant meaning it just exaggerates what already is. So if you are already super anxious you could smoke and then make it 10× worse but you can also use it to supress the anxiety. It's mental and that part always gets left out. That's the problem with medicine today is that it's always looked at thru a very narrow scope when there are countless things that effect everything and that never gets taken into account

Just a note: Our beautiful, big dog was 10 years old when we found his hips were faulty and he suffered much pain. My daughter had been given a gift of brownies from a young man who was allowed to grow his own 4 plants. She had a new baby and did not want to be inattentive or sleep too soundly. We gave the dog a tiny smidgeon of the brownie one night. He slept like the proverbial rock. EVERY night for the rest of his life, at 5 o’clock he sat under the brownie cupboard, begging us in his (talking)voice until he was given his smidgeon of brownie.

People Fuck their lives up doing what they luv most. From Sport to wingsuit flying sky diving Scuba diving, street racing you name it. How can people Place burden on People that eat too much and are obese when others take risks most probably in their own lives just for the thrill? Happiness and comfort are or can be opposition to one another. You may be smoking a joint or eating high sugar or Fatty foods right now. You are comforted, but you really know that if you were fitter and maybe a few years younger, there would be things that would really rather be doing that would really make you happy, things you used to do? But we just settle for comfort. This is the same as security and freedom. We give up our freedoms to make us feel more safer comfortable. But if only we truly knew the Happiness life could bring if we were to lose the fear of losing those things that make us feel safer more secure more comfortable? The only thing that stands between the two is "Regret". Live life how you desire NOT how others desire of you.

Because I'm trying to escape anxiety - I don't tend to panic myself with prescription medication small print. I trust it to either be obvious or for the warning to be explicit. Nobody told me about grapefruit (which, JustMe, I think actually blocks the liver's ability to convert excess drug into something that can be excreted... I think, this means, grapefruit means there's much more of the active compound in our blood stream) and I found out the hard way. Now, I avoid anything acidic around the time of my medication (SSRI and hypertension). Even a tomato seems to bring the meds back up (in the most dramatic fashion possible). I was not aware, however, that cannabis behaves like grapefruit. I have a lot to think about.

Had a surgery with a very long and painful recovery a few years ago. Doctors prescribed hydromorphone, and promptly scared me out of using it with a lecture about how it kills people. OTC painkillers did nothing for me. I tried a dose of hydromorphone. Nothing. I could try taking more, but after the scare talk, I ruled that out. In desperation I tried vaping cannabis, and it probably saved my life. It got me through the worst of the pain and associated misery, allowed me to sleep, and the only side effects were a fresh appreciation of music and humor, and an occasional craving for sour cream and bacon chips. Over two years later and still not fully recovered, but cannabis is still a daily part of my life, mostly right before bed. I sleep better than I ever have, and my heart and lungs ace every test my doctor puts me through.

I do not CARE what the physical effects of weed are at all. I'm 60 and have been medicating myself for 45 of those. I'm a highly educated retired environmental professional who had a stellar career, ALL due to marijuana. As an abused infant and child my will and spirit were completely broken by the age of 8, and by 11 I had a pistol to my little head. I remember exactly where I was in 1975 when I first tried it, and it was life-changing. I seldom use it for "fun", it has ALWAYS been, long before the first dispensary, medicine for me, serious, life-saving medicine. I accomplished things in my career that will never be done again. I've stood in the face of militant youth, abusive cops, and violent bikers looking to do harm, I've juggled multimillion dollar projects on 2 continents, raised a family, and tried to stay benevolent and connected, ALL because of marijuana. I'm alive and my kids are here because of weed, I WILL NEVER regret using it as Creator always intended. It is literally a life saver for me and millions of CPTSD and PTSD sufferers. Where the myriad of big pharma meds failed, especially after I was shot during Katrina rescue, weed again came to my rescue. It is my friend and my savior to this point and to hell with ANYone who derides it solely out of their own stupidity and ignorance.

Regardless of what anyone says it does effect everyone differently. I work with many young kids who smoke and act like brain dead zombies, and some can function well. Me personally as I’ve gotten older it does made my mind wonder and often take me to dark places, sometimes it takes me to great places.it’s all about controlling those negative thoughts. I’ve smoked for 40 years and I can promise it’s not healthy for you, it does help people cope with certain conditions but I know 100% it has lead to some heart rhythm/racing problems I’ve developed. As mentioned in the video I believe it affects the whole circulatory system in various ways, also effects the nervous system. I always twitch much more when I’ve smoked. So I’m ready to quit after 40 years, can’t smoke forever….

What I can tell people from years of cannabis use myself is that it 100% causes rapid heart rate a lot of times and just because of that effect it can spark a major panic attack and it’s also a unique stimulant that differs than Amphetamines or caffeine etc which increases that mental stimulation and sparks a huge flow of thoughts and ideas which can lead to paranoia alongside anxiety with or without mental hallucinations not so much if at all visual hallucinations. It causes you to feel that time slows way down and music sounds extremely intense and your mind starts to see things in a different “light” so to speak. I have personally done legitimate psychedelics in the past and none of which ever gave me a “Bad trip” except for cannabis which is the only one ever to give me extremely horrible trips that were very uncomfortable. But that’s just me personally as far as a “bad trip” goes. The positives are euphoria and great focus on whatever you like doing along with appetite stimulation and relaxation/sleep for insomniacs. Relieves stress and makes you more talkative and causes laughter releasing dopamine and helps depression as well. It really does boil down to terpenes on how it affects your body chemistry 100% which I have proven for myself indefinitely.

In 2021, I went to Colorado to visit some family but stayed at a hotel my first night in town. Instead of waiting until I met up with family and had them instruct me on proper cannabis use, I decided to go directly to a dispensery and try some in my hotel room. I vaped fresh flower in a handheld vaporizer. I had smoked Cannabis when I was 14 but of course was ignorant of anything about it. I took 2 or 3 small hits from a tiny, miniscule amount of green leaves in a dry herb vaporizer. Then, sat down to have some dinner in my room. 30min later it hit me like a ton of bricks and I almost blacked out, lol. I layed down on the bed and didn't get up until the morning. Later, I learned the cannabis I bought was 30%!!! The amount I inhaled would have been around 40-50mg of THC, and I had no tolerance at all. A normal dose for first time user should have been about 5-10mg. Needless to say it was a very unpleasant experience and I didnt use cannabis again for several weeks even though I had full availability to it in Colorado. It's really important to talk with someone or do online research to understand the proper dosages. I thought I was starting with a tiny amount and didnt realize how potent it was. Since then I've experimented a lot and found the strains and dosage levels that work best for me. I prefer straight Sativa using a Live Resin vape. The Sativa doesnt affect my short term memory as much and the Live Resin extraction process makes the end product taste terrific instead of some weird chemical taste. Edibles take too long to activate and the affects are harder to control since the level of highness can be hampered or helped by the food in your gut. With vaping you feel the effects within 20min and if they begin wearing off you can just do one more hit to keep the buzz going. You have full control of when you want to get off the train. With edibles you're on that rollercoaster until the very end whether you like it or not. And if the high isnt as intense as you wanted you cant eat anymore because you might accidentally take too much and only find out 2hrs later when it hits hard.

We were so lax about our use of it, that I didn't think twice about flying, and even doing my 'first solo' about as stoned as I've ever been.. It wasn't planned. I just happened to get picked up on a road soon after a session, and ended up at the aristrip with a free flight going. It didn't even occur to me that being stoned was an issue. Yes - this lecture was alarmist. If you have heart disease, do not consume cannabis in any manner. If not, the risk is very low. In this lecture Dr. Oh starts by showing single case reports, one after the other, without relevance to the general population, then goes on later and quickly and parenthetically states that for most people there is little risk. But he had already scared the daylights out of his audience. That was seemingly the purpose. Also - There is little to no clinical data on CBD interactions with liver enzymes and commonly prescribed medications - alarmism without data. The historic track record on cannabis has been rife with misleading statements and outright lies by institutional authorities, which led more than one generation to ignore professional advice, and believe that lies were told about other drugs. It is important to get it right.

Excellent and informative video. I'd love to see it's reach exceed 2.5M views because the specific medications he mentioned that have adverse or build-up effect in the body when mixed with CBDs are extremely common. We're all familiar with the warnings about eating/drinking too much grapefruit but many doctors don't even know to warn against the mixing of CBDs and certain prescription medications. It's also invaluable to know that marijuana has been "Frankensteined" into a substance dangerously more potent.

tt2b7 I went to the hospital because 5 days before I smoked live resin cartridge and I had pain in my chest and felt weak so I went to the hospital and they told me my heart rate was averaging 100 to 90 so they did some studies and they siad my blood pressure was high so they came with the results after getting a chest x ray and told me I was fine and that all I had was my heart Muscle was sore so I thought I was fine either way o went with a cardiologist and they told me my heart was fine but I might have hypertension they told me they wanted to see me in 2 weeks my blood pressure usually the highest it gets is 160to 130 so I’m pretty sure I have hypertension but I don’t know if I should smoke weed ever agin I want to so bad but am scared I could die so young can anyone respond back and tell me if it would be fine if I take a break and use it agin in a year or 2

@@aphexor1251 nobody can tell you for sure, there's very little reliable information on this topic, however if you do have problems with the heart even after not using weed for a couple days, it is likely that those problems have different causes and are just momentarily exacerbated by using weed. Also for any individual time you're using weed there's likely only a very small chance of it triggering any serious issues, so if you just want to try some weed every couple months to see how it goes, it shouldn't be much of an issue as long as you stop using if you're feeling unwell on it.

This leaves me with 2 questions: First, on the chart with the risk of heart complications from smoking, after around age 65 the risk of THC causing heart problems goes down and naturally as you age the risk goes up. It implies that THC is not a high risk factor for older people, which seems counter intuitive. In my thinking it has to contribute to the all cause mortality of aging. Second, I didn't hear him talk about vaping. Probably no data on it yet. I am told by the dispensary that there is just THC and a carrier oil in the vape and nothing else which would seem less harmful on the cardiovascular system. While I don't believe that inhaling heated oil has any benefit to the body, it would be nice to know how bad (or not) it is.

I'm off opiates for a destroyed back thanks to marijuana. I know it has side effects. And I'm grateful that life destroying addiction and overdose death is not part of it. Thanks to MJ I live a much improved life with much less pain.

Excellent, *honest* presentation. I've been smoking cannabis for ~43 years, and learned quite a lot from this. The key is the honesty because we have always been fed the dishonest government-provided information which we know, through personal experiences, is suspect at best!
