The biggest nerf that came out of Hearthstone was Kripp getting nerfed from hardcore to softcore.

I've gone through the wiki page and I reckon since the release of the beta: 12 cards nerfed almost out of existance 21 nerfed out of the meta but still fit in a few decks and/or in arena 17 cards still strong in the meta Generally the nerfs were gentler in the beta, but with lots and lots of exceptions

One big nerf not mentioned was Nat Pagle. Used to always draw a card back when there was no good minion way to deal 4 damage on turn 2. You had to either be going first with a spell/ping so you lose tempo, or hope your minions stay alive for 2 turns so you could kill it. Almost always guaranteed drawing 2 cards.

Pretty sure Blood Imp was 1/1 stealth.

Some nerfs I see in the comments were done in alpha and like Kripp said he wasn't in alpha.

You did miss talking about the Raging Wargon/Inner Rage/Charge/Faceless Manipulator when you were talking about the charge nerf, but other than that it was a real good history of Hearthstone, and the decks that were around pre-GvG.

Nat Pagle and Tinkmaster Overspark were also huge huge nerfs, surprised he skipped over those.

im pretty sure unleash nerf to 3 mana happened before naxx. we didnt have 4 mana buzzard unleash and undertaker at the same time

You forgot to mention that Blood Imp was a 1/1 with the same mechanic it has today before it became what it is currently.

you should do a follow up to this for 2018 - game has changed a lot since the early days - currently looking over very old content and the game has went crazy compared to what we had when HS first came out.

I really wish Warsong Commander wasn't nerfed, but Frothing was instead. The problem with the Patron deck was that you could be bursted for 40+ damage BECAUSE of Frothing, not Warsong. Blizzard just gimped an awesome deck that punished aggro really hard and led to the demise of Face Hunter for awhile. What a waste.

Guys, he didn't MISS any nerfs. He deliberately only talked about particularly important ones.

It was crazy how much they changed Unleash the Hounds. When it became the version it is now it started at 2 mana, then bumped up to 4 mana, then down to 3 mana. They didn't realize that the reason it was always so broken, except when it was 4 mana, was charge. Charge is the reason why most of the cards were nerfed.

Those discussion videos with no gameplay are the only ones worth viewing for me, keep the good work =)

One significant nerf I remember from beta was Defender of Argus used to be a 3/3 minion and just about every single deck in hearthstone used to play it. Now it is just a 2/3.

Also don't forget Dark Iron Dwarf - he used to give +2 attack (not until the end of turn)

To this day I still think the Warsong Commander nerf was one of the most ill-thought out nerfs in the history of Hearthstone. Regardless of how balanced the Patron deck was, it introduced so many previously unused cards into the spotlight. Battle Rage, Unstable Ghoul, Frothing Beserker, Inner Rage, Commanding Shout, Slam, Dread Corsair, Gnomish Inventor. ALL these cards were key in the Patron deck and had never seen the light of day. When Warsong left, a good chunk of these cards went with it. There was no attempt to keep the deck a float, they just threw it into the garbage and turned away. It's sad really.

Blizzard doesn't nerf cards they permanently "fix" them.

I never was a grim patron warrior player, but I did not like the nerf.. you actually needed skill to pull that deck off, unlike the undertaker bullshit.

Kripp, if you render the images of the cards with the background, when you set them to fade away, you won't see an exaggerated version of their background.

I jumped in when Shattered Sun was a 3/3, Defender of Argus was a 3/3 as well and Dark Iron Dwarf's buff was permanent. They were nerfed shortly thereafter because zoo was a total beast at that time (along with murloc warlock) :P

Gadgetzan really got hit big time with that one more mana cost. It still works but that additional cost makes with kind of hard to play with. For example, in my tempo rogue the moment I get Gadgetzan I am either rolling with tempo and comobs or I am just one step closer to that red button, at those moment it loses value. Some of the other nerfs seem pretty fair enough, some of them.

I remember the good old days when sheildslam did facedamage, and when you had otk molten giant decks with warrior.

There was a play 2 cards and win druid deck and savage roar and it has been changed. Also knife juggler lepper gnome and some other cards got nerfed during that time.
