All you have to do then is drawft every single deathrattle minion from then on out, get atleast 7 of them, play them and Awaken the Makers without getting killed or lose the board to much, play the OP OP Amara, Warden of Hope, and win. That mach against Morgl, well, if Kripp had actually used his Blastcrystal potion against the 5/5 instead of passing the turn, he could have had total board control and 11 health there. Instead he ended up with a full board, 1 health, and the enemy played a stealth. Funny how letting your opponent hit for a free 33% of your health ends up going bad for you, but it's all the rng's fault, right?

Maybe the way to solve this is simply to make the coin cost 1 mana, but give a permanent mana crystal to them?

A change worth testing would be to start both players with the same amount of cards, and instead of the coin, player 2 would start with 2 mana crystals on the first turn. That would immediately start the game off as a tempo vs value game.

It's a card game, going first is always going to be better then going second. With more spells, it IS better then before in Arena. The only thing that will change this is fundamentally changing the game as a whole, giving second player 2 coins or 2 extra cards. That would change things up, but first of second is always going to be better than the other.

I didn't like the idea of making arena standard, but so far I've really been enjoying the change in rarity balance

They should make competitions where players can only draft 3 arena decks and play against eachother. That would be better than seeing the same meta decks everytime.

They need to give the person going second an additional coin on turn 2. That should help the gap a little bit more without being as overpowered as giving someone 2 coins on turn 1. It would also be nice if there was sort of a "Hearthstone PTR" where pro players could choose to play a bit and provide feedback to point out things that perhaps the Dev Team wouldn't normally discover.

My arena stats for last 6 months from HA are in the margin that Blizzard has always claimed: With coin Games: 92 Ratio: 60 - 32 Win %: 65.22% Without coin Games: 111 Ratio: 74 - 37 Win %: 66.67%

I wonder if, in hearthstone, the player going first should start with the coin and the player going second should just start a full mana crystal ahead? This would be as if the player going 1st was going second (a mana behind, a coin and card ahead), but player 1 could actually get ahead on board with a 1 (or 2) drop before player 2 can.

I don't see why Blizz just doesn't make arena a sealed pack format. Give each player x number of packs with increased rare chances to total 45 to 60 cards. Then with those cards create a 30 card deck and the remaining cards can be used as a side board between matches.

Just drafted a arena deck with 2 legends with a score of 60.4. Wow since the switch in arena I haven't drafted a deck over 66.

I miss wild arena. Mostly because I don't like standard to begin with. Fits with my history, though; back in the day, I only played type 1 and type 1.5 MtG tournaments. I prefer as many options as possible.

Just played my first "standard" arena as a mage... out of 90 cards only 5 were spells, two were arcane intellects paired up with 2-drops (so obviously I had to get the 2 drops) and two were arcane explosion... paired up with twilight flamecallers. No 1-drops either (only got offered an angry chicken and a small time buccaneer). Went 1-3 (all losses against whorelocks that went first with 1 drops, and a bunch of AoE removal). Basically fuck-all changed in the arena from before, except I had 3 (shitty) epics, which was a first for me.

Make an 'Arena Coin'. Player going second gets 2, but can only use one 'Arena Coin' per turn.

Sure, the control classes have more control available due to a higher chance of flamestrikes, and rare/epic cards. But isn't that a good thing? It slows down the extremely tempo/aggro based arena meta. And allows for new more midranged arena drafting.

The game against Shaman wasn't really about going first RNG, he lost because he was too conservative with his Blastcrystal Potion and basically skipped his whole turn instead of using it on opponent's 5/5.

I like how he said 0% RNG in his favor yet he gets a super high value demon off of Bane of Doom.

I like how the top arena player is complaining about how he loses too often.

what if the player who goes second gains 2 mana crystals on turn 5 so they have a 1 mana disadvantage for turns 6-10 whereas the person goes first has the mana advantage turns 1-5?

the coin should be changed to something like give 1 mana crystal for on the beggining of 6th turn after the spell activated lose 1 mana crystal this way a second player would be given a chance to contest advantage for half of the curving fase (until turn 10) upvote so someone sees

I think giving the second player backstab like card just for arena instead of the coin would really help balance the early game out.

He should have blastfire potion against the jade chieftain, and he used when he was close to death

Easy Solution: Make it no longer turn based. Both players go at the same time. Fastest player wins. It will be hectic as hell, everyone will be aggro. Everyone will be warlock for the hero power, and basically the better internet wins :P

Good day, what would you think if 2nd player will start with 2 mana, so only 1st player have 1 mana stage? Think even if it seems imbalanced it could work.

Suggestion: Have a turn 0 for the person with coin CAN play a one drop

What about a carry-over effect that allows you to carry over unspent mana. It could be on a card to spend like the coin, but it only works for giving you extra mana next turn IF you have unspent mana on the turn you use it. There's gotta be some way to fix this losing with coin problem.

seriously after the patch the average tier score of all my decks was between 59-65 thats unbelievable, it makes much less fun now cuz my opponents tend to have normally strong decks...

Before arena goes standard, Kripparrian: Curve to too string, i lose all the time I go second against well curved aggressive minion based decks. QQ After arena goes standard, Kripparrian: Control mages with strong spells too strong, since i can't zerg them down. QQ

I'd like to see what would happen if going second you started with 2 mana. But no extra card.

How would you recommend fixing the going second experience? While I agree that there's a huge disadvantage with it, given your experience, what could be done?

Last mage arena I drafted 3 Firelands and 2 Fireballs. But I also sadly had no Aoe and only 2 2-Drops... lol

The only reason Ive been getting on average 6.5 wins is because of going first and having good 2 and 3 drops. My drafts have been pretty weak as well, nothing insane to come back to when loosing on tempo

So what would you suggest? How can the "overwhelming" disadvantage of going 2nd be fixed?

Suggestion: Why not just make going first and going second alternaly in Arena

Could it partially be the deck's he is building as well? He could be overvaluing aggressive cards thus loses more when playing a more reaction game.

make it so that you pick 3 decks when you queue up for ranked ladder and it chooses the 1 deck u play randomly.

I have an idee on going first problem. What if the player going first had 4 mana on both turn 4 and 5 and the other playeer have normal turns she they swap mana advantage hafl way to turn 10?

I cant remember what game it was, But the person who got 2nd got 3 coins, but could only use 1 mana per turn. I think 3 is a little much, but what if hearthstones stone was something like this. When play the coin, you get a second one at the end of your turn, this way it cant be combed with other cards on the same turn, like a turn 1 6/6 vancleef haha

I think Kripp was far too optimistic before the patch. I had my hopes pretty low, and I think that the changes were overall a step in the right direction. Spells are more fun, I love that flamestrake / abbysall have been reduced in chance to get. I feel like if Kripp had adapted to the change better, he'd have a slightly better winrate when going 2nd.

Changing Area to Standard has done nothing imo. It's totally broken, its miserable to play and i won't be playing Area again any time soon. Saving all my gold from now on for the next expansion.

Just imagine u pick 3 card one of them is always a spell, one always a class card and the last one neutral.
