Hey guys, how’s it going Kripparrian here! Today I wanna highlight a really seemingly wonderful arena run. I’ve got some really cool legendaries, I’ve got some realy cool synergy. Yes there is a lot of bad cards throughout and the deck kind of relies on synergy, but you know.. I only want to have a small highlight on the deck. Now I know some people haven’t experience what I’ve experienced but even though I actually kind of like the new Standard Arena, at least I did like it the first few weeks, right now in like the week preceding the upcoming expansion where people who have, you know, any kind of aspiration continue playing don’t bother risking their gold to play Arena. Like a player like me, I’m not even sure if I’m going infinite this week, I’m not even sure you can go infinite without, you know, getting reasonably lucky right now. So why would ANYONE play Arena, just because there are so few people playing Arena, that has so many dramatic issues and probably, you know I face a lot of the same people I play a lot of the same snipers, it’s just, I dunno.. The experience that I’ve had playing Arena in the last week or so has been absolutely miserable. You know, even with good decks, it’s just I play against better decks and I’m not talking about like one or two games. I’m talking about every single game. Like the last noob I’ve played in the Arena was like 8 days ago. That’s kinda my point. And uh, it really shows that, Hearthstone as a game, it’s a good game, but it really kind of relies it’s success on it’s popularity and it’s community. People stop playing specific game mode or stop playing in a specific way, the game really isn’t good as a lot of other card games on the market, so uh. I have been noticing that and it has been pretty clear to me and, yeah. I mean, the game’s just terrible right now. I see almost no reason to play Hearthstone, but at the same time, I think the upcoming expansion is gonna change that in such a big way, it’s just right now.. Oh God. It’s so painful to play Arena. I don’t, I don’t, I don’t know. I’ve, I mean, it’s always okay when I play ranked and stuff, but.. Yeah, it’s been really difficult and the expansion just could not have come out any sooner. Hope you guys understand what I’ve been going through lately in the Arena in the games to come and... Yeah, there is some salt, there’s some, you know, sad moments and stuff, but uh. Yeah, it’s very revealing what the game really is these days, so.. Check it out, hope you learn something and I’ll see you guys in a little bit.

That bomb squad was literally the most insane bad RNG I have seen. I have seen more unlucky things, but this was just truly a series of terrible events in a row.

And its your fault. Atleast in part. Arena helper is netdecking of arena, and you helped to popularize it. Its WHY the arena is so driven by card quality.

FINALLY a video on this topic. arena is kinda whats makes the game for me during those ahoy and jadey times. card quality is everything right now, board clears come in waves, you can't play around anything since there are so much fucking possibilities etcetera. i drafted like 4 TERRIBLE decks in a row because all the cards offered to me were simply shit. that definitely shouldn't happen in a mode where you have to pay in-game currency. its like a lottery right now, not an actual play mode.

Kripp drawing the worst cards left in his deck that many times in a row, and getting a bomb squad from Effigy, and losing the 50/50 at the end there, was a 1 in a 139,920 chance. And I find that absolutely hilarious. Thanks Kripp. :) EDIT: math 1 in 12 of drawing netherspite 1 in 11 of drawing effigy = 132 1 in 10 of drawing bomb squad = 1320 1 in 53 (5 drops in standard available to mage) of getting bomb squad from effigy = 69,960 1 in 2 to miss the Kazakus potion = 139,920 Not gonna bother with calculating all the different Kazakus potions he could have ended up with. If he got a freeze offered things might have been better, but if he missed that and the sheep then he might have not even had the 50/50, so who knows.

There's a lot of people (like me) that are bored of the current meta and stopped playing hearthstone all together until the expansions rotate and the meta shakes up a little. I'm only playing to complete quests and earn the daily gifts before the expansion. Although, all the pros and streamers needs to keep playing, so that's surely why the meta level has gone up on arena.

I mean he missed drafting a blizzard and a sorcerer apprentice and took a historian with like 3 dragons... those are pretty massive decisions that impact your ability to get into a spot where your big legendaries are more impactful.

Solution: Make Arena free to play for the last two weeks before new expansion. Casual players will have fun with it instead of not playing Hearthstone at all, waiting for the new expansion.

This video is a great summary of my overall experience of games in Standard. The New Standard can't come fast enough. Why can't it be Thursday already?

I sometimes love playing arena. Yesterday I had a mediocre deck, got extremely lucky and got perfect answers with RnG. (Top decking, Kabal courier etc.). I got 12 wins. Then it boosted my confidence to get even more gold. Today I got 2 insane decks and it's so frustrating to lose to people who are getting perfect answers or curve out perfectly and you can't do anything but die as you draw all your 6+ drops every single game and get perfect answers for your board so you lose. The reason I play arena is because I was going infinitely, but the rng is so real and the deck quality is through the roof. And the worst thing about arena is, the skill cap is extremely low. Someone who played Hearthstone for a few days could just come in and beat me even if he makes mistakes if he goes first and has rng. So frustrating.

I've honestly been thinking of just making a pre-rotation arena draft and waiting for the rotation to actually play it.

I just got triggered and quit arena today as well. Played Priest > Had a bunch of Dragon Synergy (No Ops though), Holy Nova, 2 Dragonfire Potions, and Deathwing. First Game > Went Second Had a Coin2-2-3-4-5 curve. Drew no Board Clears Got destroyed Second Game> Went Second Had a Coin2-2-3-4-5-6 curve My opponent topdecked Kodo and squished my scaled nightmare Drew no Board Clears Got Destroyed Game 3> Went First Had an unremarkable curve Got my opponent to 2 HP Volcanic Potion into Flamestrike into Volcanic Potion into 4 mana Arcane Giant from a 0-2 Mage I drew my Shadow Word Horror I drew my Young Priestess I drew my Undercity Valiant He played Coldarra Drake And there is was. Dragonfire Potion. 2 Games too late. I never even saw Deathwing or Holy Nova or the second Dragonfire Potion. Arena is bs.

I don't know what other people are saying they experience, but this is how my arena has gone the last week too. I play almost all insane decks and pretty much only priest/mage with a small smattering of rogue/shaman. I finally had an 11 win deck after numerous 2 to 4 wins, and it honestly only got that far because of bad rng on the enemy side combined with going first most of the time with decent early tempo options.

10/10 on the title normally i think kripp is just whining but arena is god awful right now

No hate but I feel like all kripp wants is owning new players, and when the skilllevel gets higher and higher and he has like 5-6 wins on average and not 7+ he gets mad at the game instead of appreciating the challenge.Sniping is a real problem tho but that has to be expected when you livestream a videogame on purpose.

I drafted an insane deck. Rag, Harrison, Saraad all in my deck. Priest w/ dragon synergy and Draconoid Op. I got blown out by a warlock with Malchazar who ripped a Deathwing into Soggoth. A Shaman who barnes and got Jade cheiftain only to coin out evolve and get Rag.

I drafted a Paladin deck yesterday with FIVE LEGENDARIES (specifically Sergeant Sally, Emperor Thaurissan, Tirion Fordring, Madam Goya, and Icehowl). Unfortunately I only managed 5 wins because my curve wasn't all too great and I went second in 6 of my 8 total games in the run. P.S. It was a buff deck as well so Sally had viability.

i think standard arena was a nice experiment but i think it needs to go back to being wild.

Think the point most people are missing is not that he is vsing good decks. It's that he's vsing them every single game. It's why I've stopped arenas just now. He's right. Every single game, no matter my draft I'm vsing insane decks. One legendary minimum, with board clears, removals and premium minions. Usually, you filter through the bad decks and vs these decks above 7+ wins. But right now in the game it's every single game since game 1. Which means that to try and get close to 7+ wins is a fight in of itself. This makes playing Arena a terrible choice if when you draft a good deck you 're fighting to break even or slightly above even every single game.

I played a paladin in arena and could've chosen mysterious challenger as one of my first picks. I did not. And proceeded to get SIX SECRETS WITHOUT HAVING MYSTERIOUS CHALLENGER.

If arena is as bad as it is for me , then I can't even begin to fathom the experience for Kripp .

I agree 110% about the state of Arena right now. But I think there are many factors as to why you mostly only see insane decks. One, as stated, could be that there are fewer average and casual players currently playing, as they're waiting for the expansion to release before returning, leaving opportunists and try-hards. Second, I think that due to some recent "Arena Challenge" videos, some of said try-hards are making new accounts to improve their odds, just for the sake of the challenge. And third, I think that the number of players actively retiring bad decks (rather than actually play them out) is increasing - some people just have enough disposable income that they'd rather spend a bit more money to play a better deck than waste time with a crap one. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, is that as the state of Arena becomes more competitive, (or as I think Kripp and I would call it, "crap,") it causes a feedback loop, making each of the above factors that much more of an influence over the meta, making it even worse.
