Cantrips outside of Magicstone refer to spells that have small effects, but can be cast for free. In Card the Gatherstone, that translates to spells that are cheap and weak, but cycle themselves so you don't lose any card advantage. I think that would be a pretty cool identity for Priest if they could have a lot of situational cards, but they keep their hand size large so that they're more likely to have their cards when the situation arises.

The changes you suggested for these cards would make priest one of the stronger classes just because of the extra card draw. This would basically allow them to experiment with a much larger amount of deck types though because it would almost be considered a better version of Warlock with the amount of draw potential along with the buffs (though not quite as efficient in some cases)...

I think playing on the theme between Holy and Shadow is the way to go for Priest. I think that for example a card like Shadow Form could give you a second hero power. In this way you could switch between hero powers between turns for a penalty. Say if you use Shadow one turn and need to heal the next your healing hero power now cost 3 mana instead of 2. I would also like priest cards to get synergy according to the use between light and shadow. I really agree with Trumps idea of drawing cards on all the too expensive cards as they are right now. This would certainly play into playing some specific cards to utilise this effect. I have some ideas as well, what do you think? "Patronage" - Draw a card and gain a Coin card. "Mind Spike" - Deal 3 damage to a target, if the target has already been effected by Shadow damage deal 6 damage instead. "Circle of Healing" - Adjacent minions are healed for 3 health at the end of your turn. "Purify" - Attempt to remove a card's effect (such as battlcry, deathrattle aso) if successful restore minions health to full and draw a card. "Candle of Wake" - Equip a 0/3 weapon. The weapon gains 1 attack whenever a target is healed and loses 1 damage whenever you use a Shadow effect.

Another thing you could do is have "if you draw a card, X" abilities. It'd be a neat contrast to Warlock's discard mechanic, and help encourage Utlitity+Draw Priest as an archetype.

Cantrip priest would also work great with Yogg-Saron, as you are able to draw through your deck way quicker and hammer out spells without losing out the immediate resource battle. (Essentially forming the equivalent to Storm decks in MTG.) That's quite the interesting idea you had there, Trump. I like it. :)

This is actually a pretty cool idea. With so much card draw, you can afford to have mediocre or niche removal in your deck, since you can draw new answers all the time. It also makes priest a little bit more active since now you have an incentive to keep using spells rather than holding on to them in hopes that the enemy plays a minion you have the perfect answer for.

Statue+Purify is effectively the same as Faceless. You play it on turn 4, then on turn five you have to spend two mana (equivalent to the overload) to silence it. The extra card is a wash because of the draw on Purify.

You know, I had a thought when trump mentioned priests can't go over 30 health. What if they could? it would add a certain identity to the priests, it would make them better at control by beating fatigue while also getting value from healing minions when needed and would require better decision making by presenting the question of whether healing the minion is worth the value later in the game.

They need more aggressive minions to survive against zoo and tempo warrior etc. I had a few ideas for these. Shadowseer: 2 mana 2/3, ''Whenever a friendly character is healed deal 1 damage to a random enemy''. I think this is a bit like knifejuggler except it works off heals which are harder to abuse (hence the better stat line), it also isn't just a super flame juggler because if you use it as a 2 drop it could be fiery war axed away without getting any damage out whereas flame juggler gets out its damage straight away. This would fix the problem of not having a reliable 2 drop for priest. (Imagine the circle of healing/holy nova value!) Forsaken Soulreaver: 4 mana 4/4, ''battlecry: Next time your hero is healed deal the same as damage to a random enemy.'' I think this could be balanced as it has a decent body with a reliable effect, only drawback is unreliability as you can't choose what it hits and its only one big hit rather than random damage. Only way I can see this being OP is you if are playing Reno priest, Reno for 20+ and then you may hit them for 20+ in the face which is kinda op for a 4 drop. It would be to push the shadow archetype of priest as its more focused on burn. Amani Cleric: 5 mana 4/4, ''battlecry: Deal 3 damage to an enemy character or heal a friendly character for 4''. It has a really good effect, especially if you drop a brann beforehand because you could hit something for 6 or heal yourself for 8 (or a big minion for 8) while still having an ok body, I like to think you have 2 mana worth of effect (flash heal is heal 5 for 1 mana and frostbolt is 3 damage with something extra, so having the versatility to pick between slighty weaker versions of the 2 is probably a 2 mana effect) and a good 3 mana minion/bad 4 mana minion in terms of its body so this makes a pretty viable 5 drop. I think these are all designed on a more Shadow Priest archetype as they are burn focused, but for Soulreaver and Shadowseer they are heal related burns which means the priest strategy of lots of small heals means they can be triggered very easily. Cleric is just a good all round card which could probably fit into any priest deck. Thoughts? Edit: Someone pointed out to me Shadowseer is just a weaker shadowboxer for which I apologise but it is kinda just what priest needs at the moment, a decent 2 drop.

According to Ben Brode a one mana Purify would enable combo decks and make them OP. Considering how they let Patron Warrior slip through the cracks, I don't trust their opinion on combo decks.

I still suspect one of the reasons they priced purify like they did is because they'd nerfed flare about the time it was designed. 1 mana draw a card for a RARELY useful effect is basically just card cycling to reduce minimum deck size. A lot of deck types seem like they'd want that (especially the combo types), so in their fear it'd be OP, they chucked it onto 2 mana. Not to mention priest already has a 1 mana draw a card with power word shield so along with 1 mana purify it'd have become that class with 26 cards instead. With that all said, I 100% agree with trumps suggestion - it'd be sucha cool effect to add to priest. The closest we've had to that in the past is miracle rogue, but that effect required a certian 6 mana 4/4 which ain't quite the same.

I'm gonna say that I also remember you saying, "I don't anticipate seeing much of DR. BOOM in constructed." :/

I like this idea and I like cantrips. A risk is that cantrips are dangerous in card games because they enable two things: 1) Card advantage. This would be alright with the named cards, because they are narrow situationally beneficial effects. 2) Facilitating combo decks. This might be more of a problem. Velen/Malygos combo priests may be a joke now, but give them that much draw power in one deck and assembling Exodia by turn ten might be way too easy.

Blizzard (aka We've got the fun in our sights) probably won't change mass dispel because they just finished nerfing other silence cards that were used "too much". They might print another version of the "Wailing Soul" card for priest though.

I always liked the idea of a new set which blizz can constantly add/edit/ remove cards from to address balance issue or stale meta issues. Doesn't need to be many cards (10?) and should be updated as frequently as once per week. In tourneys organisers could choose which version of this set in advance. New players could ignore them till they understand the game. Could also be different for arena vs constructed to separately balance those two different games They mostly treat the expansions/ balance like traditional card expansions which is a missed opportunity for a digital game

If Purify only removed bad effects from minions while not silencing the good ones you wanted to keep, it would make this card pretty cool. It would be the only of its kind and create a new mechanic for Priest, the standard RPG remove bad status effects mechanic. That means that Priest becomes the class that manages its minions and keeps them healthy (restore health and remove bad effects).

How to fix Purify: Purify 1 mana: silence any minion, if it's your own minion draw a card.

Yeah well looking at that recent PCG interview, they don't seem to think priest has it that bad.

Problem with priest is it lacks minions that stick to the board. Priest needs a minion with a lot of health that has a drawback, something like deathlord was. Something you could silence to make silences good. I wish there was a priest combo who could mass dispell then cast confuse to make the high hp minions into high attack, then swing for the win. That could be fueled with cantrip cards. Other thing priest needs is cards with multiple effects. Most obvious is something like 3 mana: heal a minion for 5, heal your hero for 5. Priest always has a ton of cards in hand, but always loses because you keep healing your minions and the hero takes too much damage. Priest has way too many cards that need to be used in combination. Having low coast cards with cantrip can help balance that. We have the blademaster/circle, auchenai/circle, any power word card, and now purify all need to be used in combination. What it means is you are often stuck with a very bad hand if you can't assemble your combo for a couple of turns. Buffing/silencing minions works in the same way. You invest 2 cards to have the effect one more powerful card could have, for the same cost. Those 2 cards will be dealt with one removal, or one silence, therefore you lose card advantage.

if draw a card costs 1 mana, the card would become the pre-nerf flare. you run it for cycle. it's just 1 mana and you get another card. PLUS you get an extra ability

They didn't want it to be one mana though, because it was then used more as cycle, allowing for more interesting decks to crop up, which the designers definitely don't want happening.

I like priest having the option to heal or deal damage. Like soul priest turns your heal into deal two damage. Flash heals text could be 'heal for 5 or deal 5 damage'. More spells and minions like that

cantrips (cards whose effect isn't worth a card, but replace themselves once used) should be available in every class not just priest. when you start separating the abilities into the great pie charts of who gets what, card advantage is not something that should be isolated into a single class. Each class needs a way of accumulating card advantage in it's own way, through tokens, card draw, deathrattles etc. i believe that, rather than simply stapling "draw a card" onto the underwhelming priest cards already available. priest needs more synergies that work with their hero power, much like warrior has for it's armour value. northshire cleric is a good card, but it's the only one of its kind in the class, when it should be the precursor to a wide range of cards which have these "on heal" effects. summoning tokens, drawing cards, gaining attack, dealing damage. the huge amount of triggers you can tie in to a defensively orientated hero power like priests can let you craft unique gameplans around key creatures that prioritizes trading and board control with mid to large sized creatures. i would much rather priests craft an identity out of actually healing and proactively putting themselves in a situation where it can be useful, rather than giving them free card advantage and ditching the hero power and other healing based abilities all together.

purify makes eerie statue a 4 mana 7/7 overload (2) that also makes you need both cards in hand to play it.

I'm still baffled by the fact that Blizzard is actually thick enough to think silencing your minion is worth 1 more mana than giving it 2 health.

I think a cool card to help priest or a mechanic for there hero power through augmenting it through some means would be to allow there heals to exceed the 30 health limit. So if you used your hero power at 30 health you would go up to 32 health. I'm not saying it would make the class amazing but at least it gives more flexibility to the class.

if anything needs to happen, it has to be that blizzard makes a card called "nimble". effect is "draw two cards". still trying to think of a clever flavor text... something to do with trump dropping the term nimble approximately 35 times.

Finaly some ideas on how to fix preist instead of just continue bashing it into the ground calling it bad ^^ This looks promising and I really hope Blixzard decides to be nimble!! Thanks for the awesome video as always Trump!
