The stinging nettles are growing wild on the farm! In this episode, I forage for stinging nettles to make a Stinging Nettle Pesto Babka spiral bread and Stinging Nettle Cake with Strawberry Icing 😋 This video also features campfire cooking and relaxing country thunderstorm ASMR sounds.

hope you're feeling much better, nothing like a stint out in nature to re-boost ones emotions loved the thunderstorms, we get some beauties here in the spring & summers too so enjoyed seeing the kitties & happy that you took even more in with the new Stubby(?) & the surprise kitten, did she only have one kitten? hope they settle in to their new home wow those nettle bakes looked amazing! are the recipes in your book as well? am saving up to get it (hopefully) well take care of yourself, surround with all the cats, mine always help me feel better too your garden is starting to look stunning! curious as to what those beautiful purple 'pom pom' flowers were/are? & hope you show us those other bushes that had buds all over, when in bloom, they would be stunning also, love flowers & am slowly getting myself a collection of edibles growing as well; love how you cook with them thanx so much for sharing your days with us

hi Kayla, Camping sounds wonderful to me, so relaxing sitting around a campfire. it has been many many years... now it is hotels , however there are wonderful cabins in Mi. along the lake and at night seeing the Mackinaw Bridge is so joyful !! Cake looks yummy, how was it ? was it a little scary eating Nettles? Your kitties are all so adorable! The nettle cake is incredibly beautiful with the strawberry frosting and flowers and being all green inside. I'm in the South of Alaska and have nettles coming up here too, mine look a bit different than yours. Everyone likes to use the nettles here too but I have never seen a cake like your amazing one. We also have peonies like you do but ours bloom much later and create a market for later weddings. We have many peony farms in Homer Alaska as it's known as the peony capital of Alaska. Just curious will you be getting your female cats spade?

Do you think the stinging nettle would keep its green color throughout the sourdough process? I love that green. 💚 😍 I have tried many natural products like beet root powder for pink (didn't stay), purple sweet potato powder for purple 💜 (it worked great), & so on. I think I am going to give it a try. ❤❤❤

I'd really love to try baking your bread and cake, but I have no idea where to get nettles from. I can remember getting stung by them when I was a kid, but most people would try to eradicate them.

If you can't find nettles, spinach or another green like beet greens, arugula, etc work as a substitute!

I’d like to ask if you know of any places that host guests in a setting like yours? Where guests can learn to cook, help in the garden, enjoy nature and the old ways, leaving technology behind for a bit? A place that is welcoming and suitable for neuro-divergent people/teens. I’m interested in a retreat of sorts for myself and daughter. Thank you! I live in the eastern United States.
