Accra Hearts of Oak beat Esperance de Tunis 3-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium on 17th December 2000 to win the 2000 CAF Champions League final after defeating the Tunisians 1-2 a fortnight earlier in Tunis.
The Phobians finally had the trophy that had eluded them for so many years with the exciting but nervy 3-1 win over the Tunisian giants.
Hearts became the first Ghanaian club to win the modern Champions League after defeating Esperance.
The Phobians also became the only Ghanaian club to win the TREBLE before adding the Super Cup just in the second month of the following year.
