Bill Steer sure knows how to write memorable tasty melodies. I really love the way Carcass write death metal, heavy, crushing but also rocking, groovy with a unique rock vibe to it.

I also think Mike Amott helped with the melodies at the time as well. He may not have many writing credits but his influences come through his time in Carcass

@@michaelglindmyer3336 of course, i like his style too, also heavy but a lot of rocking feel. What a great band! Their influence radiates through so many bands, recently i was listening to Black Dahlia Murder, the Verminous album. There's a lot of Carcass influence all over.

@@iborntobedrunk1077 Classical music requires technical skill to play well. Does that make it 'best'? Surely we all know that music is subjective by now. However, due to the speed of melodic death metal, it translates to the piano really well. And likewise, some classical translates to metal well.

This is absolutely astonishing. As others have stated, Heartwork is one of the very best death metal albums ever made, and the title track is a masterpiece unto itself. I have to admit, I was quite skeptical when I clicked to watch this video, not able to imagine how raging buzzsaw guitars could translate to classical piano. Turns out that I just didn't have enough imagination. This is a stunning performance that perfectly captures and translates the original. And, again echoing other comments, it shows the inherent link between classical and metal. A beautiful piece of music and a flawless performance. Instant Sub, and I'd love to see more metal covers in this style. You are supremely talented. 🙂

Heartwork is my favorite album by them. Every song a masterwork of metal perfection. Interesting to live in an age where people do this kind of thing. It serves to validate, and vindicate a much maligned form of music. Demonstrating the intricacies, and true complexities in songs such as these. I'd love to hear you do something off of the album Dreamweaver, by Sabbat. A most beautiful album. Heavy. Deep. A masterwork of poetry in metal form. Based on the book, The way of Wyrd. If you like metal, I think you'd like that album.
