A few weeks ago, temperatures in India blasted past 50 degrees Celsius. Currently much of the United States and parts of Canada are in the grip of a heat dome that could shatter records. Summer's hot, and heat waves happen. We know this. But if a heat wave is a period of time with temperatures above normal, and the "normal" temperature keeps rising...
What do the heat waves of the future mean for us? What exactly is a "wet bulb" measurement? Which parts of the world can withstand the heat to come, and how can we prepare the ones that can't?
GUEST: Dr. Kent Moore, professor of atmospheric physics, University of Toronto

It is definitely getting hotter over the years. Where I live, we used to get snow storms in the winter. Now, when it snows, you can Sweep it away with a broom

Second time experiencing heatstroke this year. Third time in just a year. And I live in 'mild' climates. Is 50 instead of 25 now. I couldn't wish heatstroke on anyone. It's like being boiled alive, forever.

Hooray at 2.00 someone is finally saying it. I can remember back in the 60's I was living in Bahrain as a teenager and 30c was deemed to be hot - and everyone was on alert for it. Now summertime temps in Bahrain are in the mid 40's

Inspired to draw white circles/balls/bubbles in sidewalk chalk while listening. I added it to the sidewalk outside my door to reflect heat. I could feel the heat coming off the pavement from the day. Thanks for uplifting me enough to do something positive. Means a lot.

It's an area of high pressure where you get days of low cloud, and very high temperatures that will not shift from that area for days or weeks.. Heat 'domes' can move from one area to another however.

So you're whining about "cities" being hotter than everywhere else = what's new?! What people complain about in North America, is an everyday occurrence, everywhere else

Can someone explain to me why global warming records only start from 1880, which was the coldest point in global temperature for the past 10 thousands years? A time span when the average global temperature was 2.5 degrees warmer than now and yet polar bears thrived, as did our ancestors throughout the world.

How would you know it was the coldest period if the records only started in 1880? Celsius was only invented in the 1700s.
