I have worked as carpenter, painter and superintendent for 15 years now, not once have I ever met a woman that can do my job. Not even for an hour will a woman survive in my job. We had one woman working for us for a project, she was helping to put up scaffolding and we had to manually lift it all up, meaning the person on the ground lifts parts up to floor 1, floor 1 lifts it to floor 2 and so on. After about 20 minutes she had enough and needed a break, I'll give her the fact that the scaffolding parts can be heavy, but everyone else continued even if it was heavy. She was not there the next day.

As a woman, raising children and providing a safe, clean, and harmonious space for your family is part of the deal when you choose to have that life; it should be joyous and pleasurable. I would not call that “unpaid labor” worth trillions of dollars. That’s so laughable. Teachers, daycare providers, and babysitters would be elites if that point was valid. I am suffering from secondhand embarrassment from these women 🍿🙃

Good for you! I’ve been married 40 years and my stay-at-home wife and I raised 3 great men. She was able to be involved with their school, be there to take care of them when they were sick and all sorts of things that I was unable to because of my job. We had less material things than 2 income families but it was worth it. It was always working women that gossiped about her being at home. The men admired it. But it was always those women who’d call and ask if my wife could pick up their child from school and watch them until they could pick them up.
@achang28
@achang28 Жыл бұрын
Yeah the "unpaid labor" part seemed disingenuous or a false narrative. When the bread-winner partner earns the $$ that pays for everything that allows the family to live a suitable lifestyle (mortgage, property tax, home bills, car payments, gasoline, healthcare, etc.), that's essentially a trade for the labor that's being provided by the stay-at-home mom/partner. In fact, I would argue, that for stay-at-home partner who are not breadwinners (or don't see themselves that way), would gladly be in the stay-at-home mom role taking care of the kids & home, provided the partner provides a sufficient home & lifestyle situation.

Her entire premise is built upon a TikTok video. Let that sink in. She has formed her entire position (and likely her world view) around a TikTok video. She actually believes 100% that what she saw was not only true, but that it represents a huge swath of women. Do you all understand the insanity of this? And no one (Brian) calls this out? This is why he sucks compared to Myron. He lets this shit slide. There are now thousands of people who believe this because no one called her out on it. And, women initiate divorce 80% of the time. Whether they initiate or not no court in the country will allow her or the children’s lifestyle to decline even a little bit. The court will make sure that the mother and children continue to “live the lifestyle they’ve grown accustomed to.” It’s literally case law (if not outright law) in most states. This is complete and utter bullshit because SHE SAW A TIKTOK VIDEO!! And no one said a word about it, and it’s accepted as fact. Damn I’d love to be a guest on this show. Or get Myron on.

I'm a stay at home mum. My husband used to work 18 hour days 6 days a week to make this possible. He's now gone to 12 hour shifts but then on his weekend he is also renovating our property. He also has the outside jobs that I cannot do because I can't do them with a child around. Sometimes he gives me the whole "I work harder than you" line, and it's accurate. He does work harder than me. It can be frustrating to hear him basically show me his resentment for me having life way sweeter than him right now. It is what it is. I love him and this is a season. Soon I'll be back at work and I won't feel guilty to spend the money he earnt anymore; however I will never forget the sacrifice he made for our whole family. I haven't spent money on myself in years. It's called perspective and these ladies need a bag full.

@Prilly03. You nailed it with one key phrase. "I will never forget the sacrifices he made for our whole family". This is the humility that a lot of people miss. A lot of people vehemently hate their jobs, but they persevere because of their families. Working, is that a privilege or a punishment? Staying at home taking care of children and the household, is that a privilege or a punishment? The grass is greener on the other side for a lot of people, and thus, they cannot understand sacrifice, and how much men and women do for each other. Also, do not feel guilty for spending "his" money. He does not feel guilty (I hope) for eating the food that you cooked. Instead, show great appreciation for the privileges that you provide for each other.

Also the overwhelming majority of men with wives and kids go to work and then also come help with the homemaking and house maintenance that is also ‘unpaid’. My mother on the other hand was lazy and hated cooking.. my Dad is one of the very few handfuls of Dads who won custody over the mother and my mother wasn’t even on drugs or anything, she was just not cut out to be a mother I guess… even to this day she’s a bad mother and is still in denial about the fact that my Dad raised my sister and I… I’ll never be like her.

This is disgusting behavior from these women. It's really sad because they only see the negative in men and don't even understand what they're saying. They sound very misandrist. Men don't do this, men don't hold money over women's head unless she's not doing her job at home, men don't leave relationships or marriages. It's sad to see women like this, I just hope other women don't fall for their lies.

There are men that women marry and terrible husband's. Those men are criminals and women choose them in the hope they will change. But they don't so then women proceed to say he changed so much, he is not what he used to be. The problem with thay is, he probably was a terrible boyfriend. Just the women was so blinded by how handsome he was, in her eyes that she didn't even see the red flags. Imagine having to wash the dishes, do the laundry, cooking meals, and then trying to call that "unpaid labour" when these are things that everyone is obligated to do as part of life, not just women. Of course there isn't going to be a third party financially compensating you for doing chores that benefit you and your family. As far as the "financial abuse" argument, it's the man that's bringing home the bacon so he gets the final say on how those funds are allocated. If a woman doesn't want to be financially dependent on him, then she shouldn't put herself in such an arrangement to begin with. You voluntarily choose to bear such a risk and must also bear any potential consequences that may result from it.

I supported him when he was starting out in his career and now he supports me when I went to college, supported me when I wanted to start working again. This man is my number 1 support and always will push me to achieve my goals but I always do what is best for us as husband and wife. As a wife there are duties that I am responsible for also. My husband has put me in a position where I could easily support US if I needed too. I love my husband and trust him completely. We work hard on keeping our marriage strong, keeping our bond strong and working to keep our household strong. Leaving isnt an option. These woman are definitely choosing the wrong men, if that is what they think a marriage is.

Calling housework unpaid labor is the most ridiculous idea I have heard from these panels yet. Housework has to be done regardless if you have a job or not. Its part of owning a house. Cleaning up, vacuuming, dishes, laundry, etc. all have to be done if you are a SAHM or if you are single and have a regular job. And stop calling OF a career, most would be lucky to get 5-10 years out of that platform and after that ride is over you now have no skills and no one will take you seriously in the workforce with that on your resume.

When i hear these girls stories all the time i can tell they are not choosing the good ones and this is why there's a difference between man and women when it comes to dating. At least it you don't hear man saying to other man they hit the wall at a later age. Man will have to date at least 2 or 3 bad girls to than realize the mistakes while girls like them it will have to take years. So now there's financial abuse yha american girls are done for and i could say american guys get your passport ready and when do leave america at least find a job before leaving the place and learn the laws of the country you are going into to.

I found two pieces of information from this… Using a prenup I can specify under what circumstances she gets alimony so if she leave without fault I can safeguard my money. Also I learned that women fear divorce. For women their concerned they will be left with the children and after giving up their career they might be left without their own income… Men on the other hand have very similar fears. We fear our children will be taken and we’ll have to pay for both a child and a woman neither of which are ours anymore. Some states like Florida have lifetime alimony… So get a prenup and set the rules in a very specific way. No fault divorce must be amicable and no alimony or child support in that case. In case of cheating or PHYSICAL abuse(because of how open ended verbal abuse is) then an agreement for a specific amount be paid as planned for set timeframe. How assets be divided and such… if you and her sign with both your lawyers they cannot throw it out.

This is gaslighting. being a SAHM is an absolute privilege that is granted by the breadwinner. Most men cant afford that lifestyle. You are NOT his equal. If a woman disagrees, would you happily pay all the bills for a man with no job? Buy him gifts and take him on dates. Is a highly specialized professional doing equally valuable labor as a housewife? Are engineers and dishwashers equal? Humble yourselves ladies

If a woman taking care of the house is unpaid labor, then pay them... after subtracting unpaid rent, and bills. This should apply to alimony in divorce. So if you were married to a rich dude, then your alimony should be zero. After rent, car payments for that Mercedes, and all those expensive dinners, your $15/hour for cleaning the house and babysitting would have left you in debt.

I just did the math of the stat about the 20 million dollars of unpaid labor for chores inside the home because apparently we should pay women for doing basic home care. there are about 3.8 billion women in this world currently and she said it's a "international" stat. that equals about 526 dollars per women in an entire lifetime of just doing house chores. I don't think she realizes that this supposed labor is incredibly cheap.

The $10 trillion number is globally (NY Times article). In the US the number is $1.5 trillion for unpaid work they do around the house and caring for relatives. If you deduct unpaid work performed by men then the number is $562 billion. If you halve that number because half the unpaid work is for the women’s own household and family then the number is $281 billion. There are about 130 million women in the US so about $4,300 per woman. I think the man earns more.
@deeendee7162

The problem with the "labour of the homemaker" argument is that noone ever considers that half of the work is actually her own; Cooking her own food, cooking for her own kids and cleaning up her own mess... I doubt the 10B statistic takes that into mind. Instead it's compared to salleries of maids and nannies, who do ALL the work for someone elses household...

I'm glad these twits haven't pushed for laws requiring men to pay alimony and child support. I could see them abusing the system by financially destroying men even when the wife cheats and files for divorce, alimony, full custody and child support, and a temporary protection order with wholly fabricated allegations of him of abusing her and their children. Now, _THAT_ would be a nightmare world to live in.
