🔥 HEATED DEBATE: SHOULD POCHETTINO & TEN HAG GET MORE TIME?

In a clip from yesterday's show, the boys debate the reasons for and against giving Pochettino more time at Chelsea, and Erik Ten Hag at Manchester United.
Should they be afforded a similar amount of years as Klopp at Liverpool and Arteta at Arsenal? Is there any signs of a footballing identity or progression for each fanbase to cling onto? Who's to blame for Chelsea becoming a mid-table outfit? Who could the club realistically attract as a replacement?
Let us know your thoughts below!

Hindsight is always 20/20. We all know when a majority of arsenal fans were calling for Arteta's head a few years ago. Hats off to the board and owners for sticking with him. But to say "oh we could see what he was doing" - come on! You can say all that now that he's put together a great team of great players and plays "attractive" football. Poch hasn't had enough time with these players - and the players themselves probably still need more time to build on-pitch chemistry. Sticking with Poch is the right thing to do. And finally with ETH - well as a united fan I can tell you we know how he wants to play but he cant coz he's having to play second choice players who are nowhere near good enough. And to add to that hes got his best players (Rashford, Bruno) having terrible seasons this year. Hopefully the new ownership can back him and get him the right players - not the players he's worked with before - but the right players for the right price and right wages. We can't have another Maguire at 80mn and Antony at 90mn happening again.

People could see what Arteta was doing though, just not the permanently online Twitter fans. I was only able to afford Sky Sports in 2020 so Arteta's first full season was also the first season of Arsenal I actually got to watch, and I spent way way more time getting angry at the players than the manager. It was very clear to me that we finished 8th because our players weren't good enough to do what Arteta wanted them to do, not because Arteta didn't have a good plan that he was trying to set in motion. We were playing a style of football that *should have* been attractive but we had absolute clowns like Mustafi and Pepe trying to make it happen.

What a load of rubbish talk from Harry. Go back to the old videos of him saying along the lines off "I don't think Arteta survives, i dont think he knows what he is doing....etc etc". When Arsenal finished 8,8,5, there were lots of mid-season meltdowns when Arsenal lost consecutive 3-4-5 games. This notion that "We all knew there was something there about his coaching" is complete hindsight view. Any other manager could have been sacked no matter what "Arteta was planning". Props to their boards they didn't sack him either just by fear of "if we sack another manager we look like we dont know what we are doing" or may be they persisted on him just because they didn't see any other option in the market. Grizz saying "Arteta had pattern of play", what a load of crap.

The difference is Arsenal have only spent big money the last 2 years and have finished 2nd + minimum 3rd, Chelsea are going the way of Everton and already facing ffp issues due to league failure. They don’t have the time due to the high spend and will more likely get sucked down the table as they’ll need to start balancing the books.

We know exactly how ETH wants to play He said he wants to play aggressive, high up the pitch be lethal in transitions and but also be able to play from the back through pressure being able to move the ball quickly to make space etc. But then I look at the players he had available this season and if they can do that. high up the pitch, being able to play under pressure and play the ball out from the back. Well the 6 defenders that can do that, 4 of them are injured and the replacements are Maguire, Evans and Lindelof who all cant do that United cant push up because of the slower defenders United cant play out from the back under pressure because of lack of technical ability, its really only Mainoo that can That means United cant be aggressive trying to win the ball Now you have miss match of the forwards wanting to press and the defenders wanting to drop deep and if United do have the ball, they dont have the quality to breakdowns teams that sit in a low block which is partially ETH problem with Antony not performing but injuries to Martial and Mount, Sancho being weird so there is no rotation or any tactical changes he could try to help Its a perfect storm really, almost like Liverpools midfield last season which made everything behind and in front of them suffer

Harry is always so confidently saying how different it was with Arteta. It was not, Arteta would not have survived if fans were in the stadium back then. He got very lucky as he was in the middle of a terrible run where he had lost 6 or 7 games out of 10

What confuses me is that people insinuate that Ten Hag’s third place finish and cup run were down to Liverpool, Spurs, and Chelsea having back seasons. Who blames Klopp for having no midfielders fit for an entire season? Nobody, and rightfully so. Why then, is Ten Hag’s head being called for when he’s not had a LB all season, he’s not had a LCB all season, and he’s had one striker for half the season. Is Ten Hag at fault for Mount being injured all season? Or Martial? Or Shaw? Or Malacia? Wan Bissaka? Martinez? Is he at fault for the Antony situation off the pitch? The Greenwood situation off the pitch? People need to relax, a manager needs time - but he also needs available players. If Arsenal were missing White, Gabriel, and Jesus all season, as well as having to scrape a defence together every game, starting 18 year olds in midfield - would they be challenging? Would Man City even? I’m not sure.

I agree klopp right from the word go showed what hes going to do... But anyone saying Artetas team was showing these signs in his early 2 seasons is just plain lying... We all saw the arteta out shirts.. And remember harry saying hes got to go

utd fan and i agree. I remember wathcing klopp lose games in those early months but feel the worry as i knew exactly what they were doing/going to do. Never had that feeling with Arteta, i was glad they fluked the FA cup to keep him in charge. He's doing well now i'll give him that but at the time back then? Nope.

Harry is so biased sometimes, doesnt wanna give Arteta credit for the first 8th finish, but gives him all the credit for the FA cup... They ALL wanted Arteta out and thought he was clueless, and now doing the same to the other managers, in their 1st and 2nd seasons. moronic from him

Moronic from you actually. Go back and watch the season when he took over. Of course he gets credited with fa cup because he was the one managing all the latter games. How thick do you have to be to not understand that 😂

The two problems are Chelsea are: 1. Total turnover of the squad too fast + poor decisions on those players. 2. Injuries to those players. That's it. Poch is not the issue.

Comparing Ange with Poch and Ten Hag is completely fair! People were saying Spurs would finish in the bottom half ("Harry Kane has left" etc etc). He's done an amazing job. Ten Hag finished 3rd last season!

i dont understand spurs' ownership model or backroom staff well enough to fully comment - but i would be willing to bet that they were setup better and were more motivated to be a successful club than the glazers/arnold were. and that alone makes a managers job so much easier. Hence i dont think comparing Ange to ETH is fair. Chelsea are seperate as they seem to have quality directors and Todd wants to succeed - but htey are just abit mental and overly ambitious

@@samwize28 our previous Sporting Director was banned from football. Not exactly stable. We've only very recently hired a new DoF. But off field stuff aside, both Poch and ETH should be doing much better on the pitch. I appreciate there is a link but it can't be the only explanation for the poor performance. Ten Hag has surely had enough time and enough signings to be doing better. They've gone backwards considerably this season.

@@MekkoGekko I agree on ETH. I think he’s inherited an awful hand, and been dealt some bad cards since. But he hasn’t played those cards he has well enough. Pretty much the same story for all past Utd managers isn’t it, which can’t be a coincidence.

@@samwize28 Actually a fair point, despite us selling Kane and a lot of things going on behind the scenes I'd say it was a more stable enviroment than at Utd seeing as everyone seems to be on the same page now (Levy, Lange, Munn, Ange) Having said that Ten Hag should be doing better with what he has.

We're in 2024 & this guy is still using 2014 tactics.. hadnt eveolved one bit. This is why i never wanted him. Brother.. he made Messi look like Andros Townsend.. ask PSG fans.

They are also disingenous at times and they got found out in this show. Rotate them or die. They are the same player and cant be in a team together if you want to win something
