Pretty good video but instead of cutting those metal support brackets completely, a better way is to just drill out the weld, move those metal braces out of the way and then when you need to reattach them, just put a nut and bolt through the hole you drilled.
@sparky43574 жыл бұрын
Actually did that on another one for a friend of mine. This was just the quickest way to do it. Thanks for the feedback though and thanks for watching!

The world needs more videos like this. Quick ways to fix things if you don't care about it not being perfect when it's done. I am hoping this will work on my 2005 Liberty. It's supposed to be a 9 to 12 hour job. I have watched other people replacing them & it looks like a good 6 hour job even if you do cheat a little bit. I will try to do my own video if it does work.

Worked like a charm, had this job done in 30 mins after a couple years of "mysterious" on and off overheating issues from pulling air into the system. Used an oscillating multi-tool with a wood blade to cut the plastic veneer...cut like butter and was able to salvage the bracket for glove box mount
@coleG1124 жыл бұрын
And to fix the whole “saggy compartment” issue...just run to Menards or Fleet Farm, buy a couple rails of metal, and just bolt it back to where it would’ve been.

How much was your heater core? Do you have to purge the coolant system first? And will a leaking heater core cause you to have steam coming out of ac vents? Thanks for posting this video btw!
@sparky43575 жыл бұрын
The heater core was about $60. Water vapor coming out of your vents while the AC is on is not due to the heater core. That's most likely due to high humidity and a high dew point. It is your heater core if you're smelling antifreeze and it steams up your windshield while the heater is on
@natilyfe5 жыл бұрын
@@sparky4357 Yup. I was smelling antifreeze and windows were fogging up. I just bypassed the heater core from the engine block. Don't need heat here in south florida anyways. Runs fine now until I order the heater core. Thanks for the video and info. Much appreciated.

Wondering if this would work for a 2010 Jeep liberty?
@sparky43575 ай бұрын
I believe the 2010 jeep liberty is different. Take out the glove department and see if you can access the side panel of the console and get it pulled away far enough to see if the heater core is behind it. I believe it's in the same location, but takes a very different heater core with inlet and outlets that push through the firewall making it very difficult to replace
@lesliefisher41402 жыл бұрын
Would this work if the driver's side floor is wet because of the heater core?

Yes. If your heater core is leaking on the back side, it will leak into the drivers side as well

08 jgc has been having a slight burning RUBBER smell inside and somewhat outside near front left tire. Does anyone know if this might be heater core?
