Heater Upgraded for Continuous Fan Operation

An Intertek heater, model DQ1409, was a gift from an older family moving away to California.
I like heaters, as their warmth is extremely pleasant, but I did not like how the design of this (and other identical-styled units) would cycle the fan on and off. I wanted the fan to stay on, while the heating element cycled on and off by the thermostat, not the whole thing.
So I modified it with a toggle switch, to switch the fan between continuous and cycle. In cycle, the heater operates as originally intended, cycling the fan on and off along with the heating element. But in continuous, the fan stays on all the time, while the element cycles on and off.
I also modified the electrical circuitry so the neon indicator lamp in the heater's "1-2" (lo-hi) switch would only illuminate when the element itself is energized.

I have a heater (Exact same one) where the position sensor melted, now it won't turn on. What exactly is the sensor doing? Is it possible to just remove the piece it was working with?

So my thermostat went bad and won't put enough electricity through to run the unit continuously.It just cycles on and off in a wimpy way. I took the thermostat out and connected the two black wires together and it runs continuously. That would leave the unit running continuously with no cycling. This would be sort of dangerous if you left the unit unattended. But we would only be using this to thaw out some pipes and we would not leave it unattended. I was thinking of wiring a switch in place of the thermostat dial. Would I need a switch that has a certain amount of amperage? Thanks

Hi CM. I'm not into fans that much, but I did enjoy your video. It would've been a little better if you put the video of you actually doing the wiring. Anyway, I saw a video I thought you might like- AT&T Archives: submarine cable systems development- there's a tiny segment at 14:00 about an equally tiny taperecorder. Happy repairing!

you know i think thats how it should be anyway that way say if you needed to put it away when done using it it is a good way to cool the element off.

4:20 At this point your voice didn't sound like how it was in the beginning. Also, that southern accent was gone. BUT by 8:21, your voice changed back to where it was. Oh yeah, let's not forget that southern accent. 09:08 Sounds like, "You BOOM-semble." Your voice and accent changed at "OH NO!!!". Then IMMEDIATELY back to where it was in the beginning. 😃
