Have you tried to talk to your doctor and if so, how did it go?

"Track your periods and visit with us again if they get worse" whatever that meant. But I have a Mirena! I'm 43 and childfree. They also told me to lower cholesterol but i've never had high cholesterol before? I eat almost entirely plant based. So I also asked them to rule out thyroid problems like my mom had but they wouldn't refer me for a full thyroid panel despite my symptoms. Just the one TSH test which reads fine.

I called after three days of hot flashes . They had me do bloodwork and scheduled an appointment for the next week . Luckily I have been watching you so already knew what I wanted to try first . Took three tries but now we figured out the meds I need to feel great . 😊 My doctor is totally on board with HRT that made it super easy and stress free . I was really not in a mindset to have to debate anything so I was happy not having to even go there .

@Authentistic-ism I had the Mirena also. You shouldn't get a period, really. I never did when I had it. I also had elevated cholesterol and LDL levels. Dr. wanted me on stains. I said no. Heard to much about besides. I have too many weird symptoms already with peri and whatever else..

I had a problem visit with an obgyn that was awful and I had an annual exam visit with my internist which was also awful. Doctors are not educated in perimenopause symptoms and treatments and don’t seem to want to talk about HRT.

I am a little frustrated with my family practice doctor. I had an ablation when I was 34 for reasons related to a genetic disorder where I have a 50/50% passing it on. Anyway since I was about 43 I started feeling hot all time along with hot flashes. My FSH levels have consistently go up and up. Last year in 2023 they were 28.5 This year they were 9.7. Is this normal for the levels to drop like that? He is not keen on prescribing anything unless the FSH levels say menopause. I just feel so frustrated because I am constantly hot. The hot flashes come mostly when I get flustered or anxious. Is there anything that can help me. I am 50 now.

I just wanted to thank you SO much for making this video! I just saw my Gyn yesterday and I wrote down everything you said to do in a notebook and pulled it out and went over it all during the first 3 minutes and without having to say my rehearsed line about researching FDA approved HRT she recommended it! I felt so knowledgeable and empowered going in with my list of symptoms, supplements I’ve tried, and lifestyle changes I’ve already made. She said she was so impressed with how prepared I was and I let out a huge sigh and said “OMG I thought I was going to have to beg for HRT” 😂😂😂. Thank you for sharing this information!!!

Love that I found this video today! I went through menopause naturally at age 48 ( I just turned 56 this month) and have tried Hrt twice. I was 52 when my gynecologist prescribed a patch. Within 2 days I got a UTI ( my first one in over 30 years) so I was given an antibiotic and didn’t use the patch during this time. After it cleared up, I tried again with the same results so she told me to discontinue using the patch and that was it, and she didn’t prescribe anything else. Last year I went to my family physician and she suggested that I at least use an estrogen cream locally and prescribed estradiol. Within two days, I had another UTI so once again I discontinued it. At my next visit with my gynecologist, I explained to her what had happened with the estradiol and she stated “I know that you really want to be able to do HRT, but I just don’t think you’re a good candidate for it.” So to be honest, I don’t know how to approach the subject with her again bc I feel like she will just shut me down. So disappointed 😔

is it true that Planned Parenthood can offer perimenopause care? Would they do a problem visit for this kind of thing? They are so much more progressive than most doctors

Hello please let me know even if doctor prescribe HRT treatment I am afraid they have no idea how to manage. After educating myself about menopause and post menopause symptoms are not the only things we should be addressing. Lack of estrogen is main reason women get cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis and Alzheimer’s. I would love to see one of MIDI doctors but the last time I checked you do not accept HMO. Any idea how to help this group of women? Thank you

I've just "met" you (HI!🙋‍♀) and am searching & watching your many videos/podcasts. I'm looking for information about "menopause rash". For about 8 months, I've been getting hives daily. It started with itchy hands and feet at night, and now i have full-blown hives all day, everyday. I've run the gambit of allergy tests with no conclusion and currently take ranitidine in the morning, fexofenadine just before dinner, and diphenhydramine at night so I can sleep. Otherwise a combo of night sweats and hives prevents me from sleeping & staying asleep. I still get hives. We've done dietary eliminations and perfume/lotion/detergent, etc eliminations with no relief. I've noticed it get worse with intimacy and wondered if it's heat related...like a heat rash? Thanks for your insight. Please point me to a video/podcast if you have information about this already.

Please clarify something for me. Several doctors and female hormone specialists are saying that during PERImenopause women should only be taking Progesterone since it’s the P that drops so significantly during this time period. Estrogen goes up and down during PERImenopause, and it’s during the very high ups when we get that very imbalanced E>P ratio also known as Estrogen Dominance.

There's no one size fits all. This is precisely why we need menopause clinics where we can be followed and see where we need to adjust what. I'm peri. Have Mirena for flooding. Had terrible apathy and sadness within one week of Mirena insert. Obgyn put me on estrogel and now it's a bit better. Not perfect but better. I also have mild PMDD so progesterone can be tricky for me depending on the delivery route ❤

@@emilyv5366Did they have you try other progesterone methods before Mirena? I feel like the micronized progesterone is inducing PMDD symptoms. Before, I was only experiencing PMS. I tried to ask for Estrogen, but he refused because of how the progesterone was making me feel.

I tried twice to talk to my doctor with an annual appointment and it went bad. She said she didn't believe in anything about menopause treatment and hormone therapy at best didn't work (or would cause me cancer). She told me that were clinics that could help with menopause symptoms but did not recommand it as they were fraud. Now she's retiring and I'm left with perimenopause symptoms (I'm not sure because my doctor doesn't want to give me a blood test) and a lot of questions.

You could try a functional medicine, Dr, as they can run all labs if you want. Their not covered by insurance, though. It's too bad we can't get our Dr to run the lab that's necessary..

I have to switch to a new doc due to insurance. It’s a female and she does not do maternity (yay!). My appointment is next month. I have been in menopause 2019. I have a history of hormonal migraines. My last doc had me try low dose bc, during the first month, I got 2 migraines in one week, so I stopped taking the bc. Then he gave me vaginal estrogen cream. I found it messy and I am often exhausted at night, so would not use it. My symptoms are better, but I still often suffer with bad sleep & hot flashes. Urinary incontinence is really annoying. I never feel fresh down there, between bladder leaks and just normal discharge. And terrible itchiness of the labia, especially at night. I am feeling the skin in the region is very dry (though last doc claimed it was pink and healthy). I am hoping my new female gyn will be open to listening and have solutions for me.

Hi I was excited when I found a doctor in Michigan willing to give me hrt but the dose was off and it started making me depressed and she took me off the estradiol and 100 mg of progesterone is what she recommends but I never had the dreams you talk about and my moods are up and down she just wanted to get rid of me and offered a ssi what can I do to help with my next appointment

Hello, if I take a medicine that raises estrogen as a side effect, do I still to take HRT? Is the estrogen produced by the medicine the same as the one induced by estrogen pills? Thank you for the informative videos.

You'll need to pay her $900 for a visit to get that answer
@emilyv5366

You'll need to book an appointment with a menopause specialist to discuss the risk to benefits so that you can make an informed decision. A doctor shutting the door on MHT because your mother had BC is not the type of doctor you want to be having this discussion with. There exist studies on this very topic and a menopause expert will be able to inform you so that you make the best choice for you. I know it sounds like talking points but menopause care is extensive and has to be personalized. It's certainly not a one size fits all. Best of luck ♥️

The fact that women have to pay HUNDREDS of dollars, in your case $900 just for one visit, to get proper menopause care is absolutely filthy and opportunistic. I thought my $600/yr was bad enough. The health care system desperately needs to change, most women probably not financially able to get proper care. President Bidens' executive order to put more research money into women's health research is exciting, maybe change is coming.
